GeForce GTX 590 Key Features Revealed

Even still, 6990s are bad enough value for money, the 590 will be far worse, for the same performance, more heat and a higher power draw.
The GTX 590 should be priced about the same as two GTX 580's would cost (about £770inc VAT) ..

That if the cores/shader/memory does have the same spec/speeds as a GTX 580

160mhz downclock on the core's? Ehhhh so less than 570 SLI performance to be expected?
 That can't be right.

If it is, I hope they don't come with a heatsink to reduce the cost because no one will run it at that low performance.

Do elaborate.
I keep to facts, just because something isn't positive about nVidia, doesn't mean it's any less valid, or that it's biased. As for thr 580 and 570 not selling well, they aren't. On this very store, the 6900s outsold the GTX500s on their day of release, and the GTX500s had been out for weeks before hand. If that's not selling very well, I don't know what is.
not true I'm afraid. from steam hardware survey:

Steam hardware survey means that the 6900s didn't outsell the GTX500s on their day of release? How've you worked that out? Steam hardware survey, while useful only shows the hardware that people on steam use, and who complete the surveys and doesn't disprove what I said, Gibbo came out and said it himself on these forums.

The card may come at 612mhz core and lower memory compared with the gtx580 to make it look great on the power, heat and noise levels. It will be slower than a 6990 at these clocks but if nvidia give it a switch like the 6990 that up the clocks and memory to somewhere near gtx580 then it will be a good ploy as it will make the card look good at these low clock speeds and maybe fool some people into thinking it runs cool and does not sound like a banshee.

I have always thought after seeing the 6990 performance that nvidia were going to have a hard time matching the 6990 because they are not as good as amd when it comes to gpu size and power levels. Amd from the release of the 68xx series have better multi gpu scaling which makes life harder for nvidia in this area as well.

It's hard to get 'real' facts about what sold most on release as if you listen to any good salesman, they will tell you a product is selling like hotcakes simply to shift stock and improve sales on that product when infact the opposite could be true.

Steam or perhaps Orb, while obviously not definitive does give a better indication on the amount of products sold as there is no bias. I agree on your comments about these latest dual core cards though. Not what I would call value for money but then that's not what they are marketted as.

I think it was pretty common knowledge that the gtx5xx series had very low availability on release and the amd 69xx had much more cards available on launch day. We all know that nvidia had problems producing gtx480's on the 45nm process so i am certain producing the gtx580 will not be a high yield part.

That steam survey doesn't say a thing about selles, i never completed it, and my card isn't on that list. I bet many owners did the same as me, so using that chart as sourse of sales is ridiculous.
I bet that GTX590 will cost more, cause it's NV. It might be faster, but they won't be selling them as good as mid-end cards. This game of having "quickest" card on the planet is a bit silly, but it's like in sport, everyone wants to be the best.
I love when raven is defending his beloved company, anything that could put them in the 2nd position is nonsens :D love it.

yeah better trust a salesman with a store that a few thousand in the uk use than valid proof from steam that has 40 million users from around the world.

gibbo said that the 4xx nvidia series outsold the 5xxxx on release as well do you believe him? not to mention that sales on release day dont even matter.

you said that the 580 and 570 are selling poorly so I will add that the 6900s are selling even worse.

you dont complete a steam survey as it collects the data by itself. your card is on the list if you bothered to look. The steam hardware survey is the most reliable source of sales we'll ever get. more than 40 million pc gamers use it.

I think you could probably say that the gtx5xx and the amd 6xxx are selling poorly as what they offer is not much better than the gtx4xx and 5xxx series. I am surprised to see the 6950 on that steam survey being used less than a gtx570 or gtx580 as it makes no sense to me.

I think you are wrong about the steam survey though as i have to allow steam to view what hardware i have as it asks me if it can do this now and then.

there is no use for cards like these, exept measuring e-penis in tests and for serious overcklockers, but to buy these to play console games? no way,id better spend those money on better monitor or something else worth it
and talking about performance crown...nvidia will win probably, otherwise no point for them to release such card for second place

i reckon it will be longer and thicker than AMD's offering... ergo, better

i can agree with that. that is why i haven't upgraded yet. It might not make any sense to you and to me either but facts are facts.
