Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Given that the average 670 price here on OcUK is around £330 - I think that you're off your nut if you believe nVidia will price a 770 at lower than £300. Yes, of course you have to add on the retail margin - but still, the 770 will likely not be below £300 RRP.

If it is, then I'd be glad that I was wrong and snatch up 2 770's.

also, given that the 770 is basically just an improved 680, I'd be very surprised to see it retail for under £400 tbh :S

670's would unlock to 1.212v maximum though?

The GTX 770 is (rumored) stock 1.3v, I'm confident it'll be clocked much higher out the box, and more overclocking potential, that will be the selling point of the 770, GTX 680 beating performance and more overclocking. Whereas the GTX 780 will be a beast probably with fairly conservative clocks out the box to not step on the Titan's toes. Again I think the 780 might offer better overclocking than even the Titan if the voltage has been increased..

I think the performance of the GTX 780 will be within 5% of the Titan anyway. It has one SMX less than a Titan but this will allow it to clock slightly higher due to less heat. Same story with the vram 5 instead of 6gbs.

As to modding the bios, I don't think it will make a huge difference. There are plenty of people using a modded bios on the Titan (not me) and it does not seem to make a huge difference. What does help a lot is fitting waterblocks, this gives a small but noticeable bump and I think the same will be the case with the GTX 780.

I think a Titan on air vs a GTX 780 on water will have almost identical performance.

Agreed, if the 780 ships with higher stock volts, it may surpass the Titan when overclocked, but come with lower stock clocks so stock VS stock Titan is faster. Non ref cards may come later and be faster..

Just hoping the the 770 is around £285, I want two :p

670's can be had for around £285? If you allow 5% - 10% for price hike at launch, the 770 should come in around £300 at launch, (If Nvidia don't fleece us).

GTX 770 spotted again,

Looking pretty good to me (:

Performance of the GPU is expected to be around 5-10% faster than the GeForce GTX 680 at a cost near the GeForce GTX 670 around $399-$449.

GeForce GTX 770 would have a huge overclocking headroom, TDP of 250 Watt and would be supplied power through 8-Pin and 6-Pin connectors. The default voltage for the GPU would be kept at 1.3V. More could however be unlocked with modding tools from overclocking professionals.

Price in UK not so great..

RRP: $399 / £259.71 + 20% VAT = 311.65 + ROB Hike + 10%: Total = £342.82 launch price?

sounds good to me :) glad I waited now

atleast it will shake market up (a bit)

Yeah might cause price drops on both sides older cards, so far looks like 770's aimed at overclockers, 780's aimed at enthusiast?

Really do fancy a pair of 770's in SLI. I know AMD are cooking something up, but they will be nice for up until then :D

Gonna sell my 7970ghz I think and take a couple of months out of gaming then I might purchase a 780 around August.

This makes no sense to me. Your 7970GHz should be around the same as the 780 will be at release, no? 780 is rumoured to be GTX680+15% performance. They aren't going to make it a beast, as Titan is above it, and the 680 is below it...

Waste of money if you do that imo. Especially with AMD bringing out the runt time fix in June/July.

Well obviously I'd see what the performance of the 780 is like first before making my decision. I predict AMD will have a new card out by August anyway even if it's just a re-hash of the current gen.

why not - most people buy the more enthusiast graphics cards to effectively "play with"

most decent cards - even 2 years old play the vast majority of recent games smoothly (unless at uber res)

so for instnace, I have a 570 - does it play all my games smoothly, near-maxxed out ? yes

do I fancy a new shiny 7 series to play with (or AMD equivalent) - yup :)

Really fancy a 770 i have to say...........are those titan coolers really quiet as that is what i am looking for most of all in upgrading from my noisy GTX480?

Surely, we might see Gibbo's customary wink thread this week and possible pre-orders if the release dates are to be believed?

Well, as unlikely as I think that will be, if GTX-770s are going for £300 at launch then sign me up for 2. :D

Looking at £325 - £350 at launch depending on the retailer, 4GB editions up to and over £400.
