Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Well obviously I'd see what the performance of the 780 is like first before making my decision. I predict AMD will have a new card out by August anyway even if it's just a re-hash of the current gen.

Why don't you just wait, if the rumours are true AMD will have the 20nm GPU's out at the end of this year, if the specs are right the 8970 will humiliate the full GTX Titan by some way.

it make no sense to sell the 7970 only to add £300 - £400 to what you get for it to but a GPU with similar performance and then sell that to get what might be a monster in 6 months time.

its like £500 / £600 down the drain in 6 Months dead and you get nothing out of it.

why not - most people buy the more enthusiast graphics cards to effectively "play with"

most decent cards - even 2 years old play the vast majority of recent games smoothly (unless at uber res)

so for instnace, I have a 570 - does it play all my games smoothly, near-maxxed out ? yes

do I fancy a new shiny 7 series to play with (or AMD equivalent) - yup :)

Indeed, each to their own. I just hope it offers a worthwhile performance gain from, iirc, an overclocked 7970 - though I doubt it will. :)

RRP is rumored at $399.

So price in UK not so great..

RRP: $399 / £259.71 + 20% VAT = 311.65 + ROB Hike + 10%: Total = £342.82 launch price?

Looking at £325 - £350 at launch depending on the retailer, 4GB editions up to and over £400.

I see that Titan styled cooler is a statement that gtx770 is a "leet" card, thus cant see it cheaper than £400. Titan £800, 780gtx £600, gtx770 £400...

Am I the only one thinking the 770 seems really underpowered compared to the 780. It has around 100 less cuda cores than the 780 but the 760 has only 200 less. 80 less TMUs than the 780 and only 20 more than the 760.

It seems really unbalanced unless its clocks are a lot higher to even it out.

once the prices come out then I can make my call on an upgrade from a 560Ti, whatever I pick from the 7xx range will be a nice boost and im not going to make a call on a new GPU till the details are out for real (and maybe some benches)

Don't buy a rehash man, they're just milking people for the fun of it here. Wait for AMD 9xxx, should be out earl . Next year late this year and if rumours hold true and TSMC can pump the 20nm chips out, the cards should dominate Titan. 8 Pack has been hinting that AMD have something interesting for a while now too.

You'd be gutted if you spent 500+ on a rehashed 680 then a 6 months later for 500 AMDs card slaps yours silly.

Or of course buy a 770 at the end of the month for £350 and in 6 months sell it for £250 and buy whatever AMD have to offer and get 6 months good gaming out of the card.

just as likely

Agreed, the 770 at $399 / £350 seems to steep to justify tbh, if it had come in under £300 would have been alright for a refresh card..

Hope AMD leak some info on the HD 9970 soon, I would wait for that if I thought for a second it was real :p
