Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Agreed, the 770 at $399 / £350 seems to steep to justify tbh, if it had come in under £300 would have been alright for a refresh card..

Hope AMD leak some info on the HD 9970 soon, I would wait for that if I thought for a second it was real :p

Out of interest where are you guys getting those prices from? What assumptions are you making?

To be honest there is a lot of speculation about these new cards and the prices they might come in at, not in the least bit helped by the Nvidia titan, which as we all know is way out there in terms of price.
Some people will keep telling us all that they will be 5/6/700 pounds, others will tell you that they will be 3/4/500 pounds. My self I think the 770 will come in around the price of the currant 670, about £350 and the 780 about £450. At these sort of prices it allows the rest of the range to slot in nicely or do you really think that a 760 is going to be a £300 and a 750 £250, personally I just cannot see that happening.

Considering the 760 Ti is gonna be about as powerful as a 670, it'll almost certainly be within the £250-350 price range.

About £250 for a 760ti is about right allowing the 760,750 etc. to slot in below it in the 600's currant respective prices.

Thing to remember is that although Nvidia may be greedy they are not stupid.

If you mean the non Ti then I agree, no way it could be £300, for the Ti version we could be approaching that price. Remember the GTX660Ti released at ~£250, this was ~£60 more expensive than GTX460 release prices. So over the past few years GPU prices have been steadily rising. As a result price/perf has remained almost static and in some cases is actually worse (Titan, 7990, GTX690 etc).

For example. HD 7870 (stock) on release was around 10-15% faster than HD 6970 but was priced slighty higher. I did argue at the time that the price/perf was better but I was deluding myself. Prices didn't hit realistic levels until AMD were forced to reduce prices due to Nvidia finally releasing competing products.

I do remember buying a Gigabyte 7870 for £220, replaced my 6950 with it and was impressed, I would play BF3 maxed at a good 50+ frame rates even long before the 12.11 Drivers. where as with the 6950 I would have to turn AA off.

I now have a 7870 Tahiti LE, which is 10% faster and + the 15% past 12.11... clock for clock @ £180, it just eats anything up.

Well at the end of the day I do hope even my prices are too high, (not that I can really see that happening) as I really need to replace my 470 noise making space heater

You can get a GTX 670 for £289, which would translate to $359 before tax (that is the actual price in the States too). It's more than likely that GTX 770 (that's supposed to be an overclocked GTX 680 GPU) will come down under that price point, although it's all speculation at this point, as how I explained it earlier, there's no such thing as a UK RRP and prices will be adjusted based on the US market prices and a number of other factors, which is why it's more sensible to discuss those rather than what the UK launch price will be.

From what we know so far, it's a given that the prices of GTX 670/680 equivalents (so GTX 760 and GTX 770 accordingly) will be favourable compared to the current prices, and hopefully they will be priced that way.

For comparison, the launch prices:

GTX 570 - $349
GTX 580 - $499
GTX 670 - $399
GTX 680 - $499

If the GTX 780 is actually a Titan LE, and all sources so far point to that, there will be quite a price gap between the GTX 770 and GTX 780, possibly as large as $200.

So say GTX 770 (slightly faster than the current GTX 680) comes down at $399, we might expect the price to be around £319 after VAT, which is quite reasonable considering the current generation's prices, but disappointing when you take into account how long we've waited and the small performance increases for money.

That would put the GTX 780 at $599, which is around £469 with the current exchange rates and inclusive of VAT.

Prices for the GTX 680 on the U.S most popular site is $470 to $570, GTX 670 $370 to $460

At launch 680's were ~£420+ last year.

At Launch 670's were ~£320+ last year.

Now the 770 (re-badged o/c 680) is not the top NV single chip card (the 680 was the top card at launch), will we really get it at the same price point as the 670? Will the gouging move onto just the 780 and titan?

Sadly i reckon we'll get a continuing rise in price as per titan.:(
770 ~£400
780 (titan LE) ~£600
Titan ~£800

If the 780 is sub £600 I will buy at launch.

I haven't seen any price gouging yet, the prices are lower than they were at launch.

Titan is a special case, NVIDIA decided not to release it as their consumer grade card and it's marketed at a totally different market. That it's popular among enthusiasts is another matter entirely.

I can't see either Nvidia or AMD moving towards a business model that would kill their consumer grade market.

I don't believe anyone on here has mentioned a UK RRP other than you (I may be wrong) but I see nothing wrong with talking about launch prices in pounds, after all it is the currency that we use in this country.

We all understand that prices are set in US dollars and then converted across to give us a price in pounds, but I really do not see the problem with using pounds here in this forum. That way we can suggest what we think they will cost in comparison to other existing products on this very store in pounds. :D

The prices were leaked with the spec, assuming the spec is legit you assume the price is also.

So the figures are based on the information we have. Of course it could be wrong. Should take everything with a pinch of salt until NDA's end and cards are reviewed :p

Still speculating is the fun part, the reality is almost always disappointing (:
