Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

the 580 3GB and Titan were/are both niche cards
is there a 6GB 7970 to compare 580 pricing to?

the 7970 was the AMD replacement/equivalent to the 580 1.5GB, which was nearly £200 more expensive than when it launched

they are both equally guilty when it comes to pricing, and consumers are just as guilty for paying those prices

Well that's not true, it wasn't £200 more, it was more expensive but not that much.

Let's talk about right now for a minute, the 7970 gives better performance than the GTX 680 but costs less and comes with games. AMD give better value at every tier, that's today's market.

I agree about them both being equally guilty of trying to fleece the consumer, Nvidia is just way more guilty of it. I don't understand brand loyalism to company's that want your money. Price VS performance dictates what I buy. Right now Nvidia's pricing is bonkers no other way to describe it.

I see an opportunity for them to redeem themselves a lil with the 7XX series rebrand prices. If they deside to further fleece us I'll go to AMD, based on value VS price not any brand loyalty.. People attach emotions to products it's all a bit weird..

No way the 780 will be £750

Titan can be had on here for £827 and it has more of everything and is the TOP single chip card. Who would buy a 780 for a mere £75 less?

780 price will be dependent on the vRAM amount and relative speed.

780 will be £400+ at launch like the 680 was. The question is will it be nearer £400  or £600? :(

I hope so, at £400 it would be good value imho, 3GB vram and that amount of shaders.

Would plump for a pair of EVGA GTX 780's at launch at £400 - £450, hopefully backplates aswell :D.

But I've just proved you wrong. All of their top cards have launched at $500 for the past 5 years. Titan was not meant for the consumer grade market.

I didn't realize it was a competition of who is right and wrong, thought we was just chatting :p

I hope it comes in at £400, like I said above, that would be good value, if 3GB vram and 2304 shaders :)

AMD give better value due to it being nothing but a gaming card, mind you It cant even Xfire properly. There's nothing more it gives, absolutely nothing. They have to bundle top games for them to even shift cards to an adequate level compared to nvidia.

Also, have you seen the price of a 7990 ?

Yeah it's bonkers, have you read my post? Part why I agree about both AMD and Nvidia being guilty of fleecing us..

You might be on to something there mate, just had a look over previous gens and came in priced fairly similar, the Titan was an anomaly? If Nvidia stick with normal pricing with the 780 I'll be be happy, and order two. EVGA 780's with 3GB vram :D:)

GTX 280 £471.68
GTX 480 £449.41
GTX 580 £410.76
GTX 680 £429.92

Is bitcoin mining a game because AMD's gaming cards are far superior for it? What about the 580 being better for CUDA stuff than a 680?

Nvidia are producing the more gaming orientated cutdown cards at higher prices you'll find.

You keep quoting the UK launch prices, I don't think you understand where they come from.

Huh? I was saying that you were right about Nvidia's X80 cards coming in at similar pricing every year. I have no idea what you're talking about now?

If the 780 keeps the same tradition and the Titan was indeed an anomaly then it's all good. Quite fancy a pair of 780's for SLI. At £400 a pop they would be a good deal imho.

That's just laughable. In simple terms it just just not worth the money.

Looks like a cheapo 2nd hand upgrade to a 7950 (If I bother at all), and then see what AMD come up with in October.

The problem is, IF nvidia price their 780 around £700-£750 or what ever it may be, i can see AMD pricing their 8970 between £650-£700. Just like the over inflated 7990 pricing!

Either way, we're gonna lose here!

For a 20nm chip, out as early as December which BLOWS Titan out the water (if all rumours are true...) then I say £600 is an alright price. Still high, but acceptable. At least they won't come in and slap a grand on it like some Titan prices.

Nah, 780 3GB will go for £500-550 and closer to 600 with some retailer markups, still too expensive for the spec, I mean AMD can do a 384 bit 3GB 7970 with free games for just over £300 so Nvidia are gouging big time just like with the lower spec but highly clocked 6** cards.

770 is reported as being slightly more expensive than the 680.:o
