Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

I wonder what the MAX vRAM usage one of the titan owners has ever seen is?

Maybe one would care to comment?

Even with ample space (6GB) and silly high res do the cards even bother to cache 5-6 GB of textures?

If the titans still only use 3-4GB MAX at super high res then 3GB is clearly no issue for 99% of users.

It doesn't matter, 3GB for £500 is a ripoff.

You get 3GB with a £200 7950...

Only 3GB on a £500 card is a ripoff.

Still very poor for a £500+ card.

Totally ridiculous. Over £500 and not even 4GB of VRAM.

Only 3GB, that's really really poor.

It's very very poor IMO.

Any card over £400 ought to be 4GB at least.

You will be buying 2 for SLI then?

You would have thought the world was ending from those responses!! :D

LOL brilliant. I was sure I'd read the same thing multiple times from the same person. Glad somebody dug them out :D.

Kudos for behind a spoiler as well. It made it even more enjoyable to read.

:D

It isn't like it is compulsory to buy one. All that ranting, you would think there are no other alternatives. I have not seen that amount of rage since the Poll Tax was introduced...

Although these launch prices are high, just think in a couple of years, these are the cards that will be in the bargain bin..

Weren't OCUK selling 580's for £150 a while back.. Patience in a virtue.. Nobody really needs a 780 or a Titan right now. We should count ourselves lucky that which high end card to buy is the sort of hard financial choice we have to make in the UK :p.

Max Payne 3 destroyed 2GB of VRam on Max settings and that was a year ago.

No it didn't.

Only with masses of MSAA (8x) at high res did it go past the 2Gb mark.... which you would expect. But with MSAA x4 at high res it's fine.

Personally at 2560x1440 with all settings maxed (Except MSAA, which is at MSAAx4) and Windows 7 aero disabled, highest I have seen is 1.8GB, as you can see 2GB is plenty even at 2560x1440.

I'm impressed at how well optimized this game is, I have yet to see it below 150fps, and this is at 2560x1440 with all settings maxed.

If you play at 1080p/1200p then 2GB is plenty for max settings, if you play at 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 then you will not be able to run MSAAx8, but I'm playing it maxed details with MSAAx4 and it's smooth as butter.

Confirmed, seems like MSAA is a huge vram hog in this game. I play at 2560x1440 max settings Windows 7 aero disabled, with MSAAx4 I would see up to 1.89GB of vram usage, with MSAAx2 highest I have seen in the same place is 1.1GB.

I guess I'll stick to MSAAx2, I see no difference at all at this resolution between MSAAx2 and MSAAx8.

So do you think that with the NDA ending on the 23rd with the 780 launch/benchmarks (hopefully) we will get to see the prices then or do you think we will have to wait a week for availability before we get the prices?
