Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Was the 680 release like that? I know the 670 was NDA lifted and released all at once.

Tpu have it down as a retail release of the 31st though, so a week later sounds plausible.

Is there anyone here who has said they will be getting a GTX 780 or 770

Well I may be making a huge mistake but I have just put my 670s up for sale on a well known auction site. Almost having second thoughts as one of the two is a golden clocker able to reach 1400 MHz core clocks on air with an unmodded bios.

Thinking of going 780 SLI or titans but not sure yet. Waiting to see 780 benchmarks and overclockability. Also want the new cards under water.

I doubt you would see any difference in game between a pair of 780's over a pair of clocked 670's on a single 1440p screen. Other than benchmarking results it seems you will be spending a lot for very little gain.

Yes I think you're right. The main other reason for doing it is I wanted to buy pre-waterblocked 780 (s) as I just don't want to do that job myself. Also thought I'd do it now while I can still get reasonable money for my 670s.

I wouldn't be so sure - I got the same results on a single Titan as a pair of 670's... a 780 should overclock well and provide similar results, so a pair of 780's will completely destroy any game on a single screen

you really will be able to max out any game

I "may" consider a 780 depending on the price and how long its likely to last, I play a lot of Warcraft so SLi/CF is pretty useless to me, although my GTX670 only lags rarely... but shiney things!

I play a lot of wow as well (my main game) and to be honest the 670s don't even have to utilise full boost on the core clock for that game. Much more cpu dependent. Going from an i5 2500k to a 3930k was a massive improvement for me in raids.

But there is no game that really makes a pair of clocked 670's struggle at 1440p. It seems pointless to me to spend a fortune on 780's if you will not see a big performance increase in game.

I'm *hoping* the 780 offers a smoother experience than Sli, I think I must be hyper sensitive to micro stuttering....

Don't get me wrong 670 sli has great FPS and great value but id happily loose 30-40% frame rate for the smoothest experience.

I must have bad eyes as I have not noticed any stuttering.

This makes good sense and I would fully agree. 120 vs 100 fps (for example) makes no difference to me. I'd rather have a smooth experience and the added excuse was that I can buy a pre-waterblocked card off the bat. The other advantage I suppose is the slight increase in VRAM to 3GB. Not much but it may help with upcoming games or possible multiscreen setup.

I'm considering the 780 for BF3/4 1080p 120hz. My i7 920 & GTX 680 combo does a decent job in BF3 on low settings, but I often get fps dips to around ~55 on busy servers which makes gameplay stutter. Its never a solid 120fps either, more like 80-90. Also considered getting a second 680 but I'm put off by all the issues around multi GPU setups.

There are a fair few games that will make a pair of 670s squirm. Tomb raider maxed, Crysis 3 maxed, Hitman Absolution maxed to name but a few.
