Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Not convinced. Doesn't really make sense that TU116 still uses GDDR6 and isn't just a cut down TU106. 7GB and 5GB sound like will be some kind of odd bus sizes.

However just to prove how credible this is

"I work for NVIDIA but I'm scared to get fired... I promise you that GT2030 will be called TU118 be around 15.5% slower than GTX1050 and 43.142% faster than GT 1030. Likely retail $50-$100"

:D

on a more serious note

There is no way I am paying $3000 which will translate to £2500-£2700. That is just ridiculous money for a graphics card.
I find it hard to believe this, Nvidia might charge £1000 for new TI and £1300-£1500 for the new Titan but you got to be joking if I see people paying almost £3000.

if they do this pricing regime, I will never buy another nvidia card again. I would rather slower AMD cards than have Nvidia milk us worse than INTEL.

I am not convinced either. As you say a lot of things that don't make sense.

Well at least we are sure of one thing - there will be an RTX series gaming card. I wonder how long until all the Chinese scammers start rebadging Pascal cards with an RTX shroud?? :p

Well TBH they can - after all the newer cards will be quicker than the old ones, but maybe not as much as well want them to. But as I mentioned before lets see how big these chips are - if they are massive GPUs made on 12nm,it might explain some of this.

Anyway,we should find out in a few months time.

GPU speculation is always such a roller coaster!!

Not even sure of that imo - I read it that RTX was more a software trademark rather than anything concrete for hardware

There is both Quadro and Geforce RTX. Quadro is the name of a series of cards.

Plus even J2Z and others have hinted Nvidia making a big deal about raytracing support,so I would fully expect Nvidia to sell that feature.

Edit!!

Look at this improved form for AA:

https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-adaptive-temporal-antialiasing,news-58905.html

It uses RTX. Remember,Nvidia only changed to the GTX naming system with the GTX200 series cards before Fermi.

So I don't see any reason for them not to changeover to a new name, especially if they are pushing RTX.

Plus RTX series does seem rather cool!! :p

I know Quadro is the name of a series of cards

Those trademark filings are neither here nor there - the filings for Geforce RTX and Quadro RTX both talk more about software and apis.

Wouldn't read too much into it either way - they've also refiled for GT, GTX, GTS and now GTR!

Well maybe next time AMD has a nice competing card you all might want to consider buying it to support them, instead of just going Baaaaaa and following the rest of the sheep.
Er... maybe thats not a good thing to say seeing as whats in my pc but meh anyway :p

Can't see it. It'd just be pure dumb on Nvidia's part. A standard Titan costing more than a Titan V seems dumb, unless Titan's will now forever cost 2-3x a historical Titan.

Whatever happened to your thread which you would put in articles such as this so we could see if it was fake news or not once the card came out Kaapstad?

Chances are this is fake news. It is possible they go dual fans, but it won’t be because it NEEDS it, just to have something different that runs cooler and quieter which means better boost clocks.

Is dual fan blower even possible, so the air comes out the back of the case?

At some point I will do a new improved version of that thread with a better layout.
