Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I'm not sure if Nvidia get more money from FE cards? If they do it doesn't make sense why they just didn't make better standard coolers in the first place instead of blowers.

FE cards do have their uses, they are the best option for mini-itx builds or larger cases with poor airflow, as they vent all the hot air from the GPU out of the case.

Dam...I can see me using my r9-290 until it dies.

That or just buy something now, there’s an open box 1070ti I’m eyeing for £360...I might put the kids to bed open up a bottle of Rum and have a think...

:p

I replaced my R9 290 with a Vega 56 recently. I too was hanging on for something under £300 that was an upgrade, but in the end I just came to realise it aint happening. I just ignored what might be incoming from nvidia in the next few weeks and got the vega 56. I won't care once I'm gaming with more than twice the FPS of the 290...

September and breakthrough performance.... Oooo yes please :D
I won’t get my hopes up, the headline does say allegedly, which probably means fake news.

Bit like those clickbait articles that end with a question mark. The answer usually means no, or they don’t know.

NVIDIA Allegedly Building Dual Fan GTX 2080 Founder’s Edition – Galax Confirms September Release & Touts “Breakthrough” Performance

Not going to happen

If the Titan V packs 5120 SP, 2560 DP, 640 Tensor cores and uses the reference cooler there is no way that a gaming card with a far lower core count is going to need a dual fan cooler for the reference card.

Titan V does not run very high temps even when heavily overclocked.:)

Whatever happened to your thread which you would put in articles such as this so we could see if it was fake news or not once the card came out Kaapstad?

Chances are this is fake news. It is possible they go dual fans, but it won’t be because it NEEDS it, just to have something different that runs cooler and quieter which means better boost clocks.

Is dual fan blower even possible, so the air comes out the back of the case?

News flash, this isn't a Titan V ;). We don't truly know anything about this card yet. I can tell you with some certainty it's referred to as Turing and also the VRM is a little beefier than what we're used to, though.

Haha. Yea, Kaaps does like to compare to a Titan V a lot, but that card is very different. Not to mention it has been a long time since we have had a new gaming based architecture, so who knows what exactly it will be like.

Anyway, I will quote this here you saying it will definitely be called Turing :p

I could almost be tempted if they did introduce a new Titan around the £1300 mark with the initial launch - I'm really hoping that the new £3k isn't the new Titan price point.

Figure it's going to be some time before they introduce the Ti - would make sense to have something ready if AMD launch new cards in 2019.

Very unlikely to be below £600. The 1080 was £620 at launch, or at least the cheapest ones you could find were.
In fairness, the GTX980 was £430 at launch, so there's no guarantee Nvidia will keep the x80 launch price the same (though on that basis it could go up too).

The 1080 didn't arrive after the cryptocurrency bubble proved people are willing to pay way more for graphics cards.
Yes it did, the 2013 "bubble" had already proved that.
