Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Again, I don't recall ever stating a max I would pay - perhaps you can quote where I did?

Why wouldn't I compare it to buying a car, a house, a horse or anything? I could buy a cheaper house that provides me with a decent life experience, I could buy a cheaper car which still gets me where I need to be when I need to be there - so the purchasing decisions behind all of them are based on the same criteria - what I want as opposed to what I need - so I see no reason to exclude other purchases from the comparison based on the same criteria.

Hey, don't worry about it, Marketing Works, we all fall for it.

You wouldn't double your budget on a house or car no matter how good it was.

Well you can't compare it to a house because a house will typically go up in value. If you buy in a good area a house is actually an investment and can net you hundreds of thousands of pounds. A graphics card has some of the worst depreciation on the planet. So they are entirely different ends of the spectrum and not comparable in any way.

Well a house is essential, for most a car too. Unless your livelihood is related to it no matter which way you cut it a gfx card is not.
But as I said - I could have a smaller, less expensive house and a cheaper car - I chose what I have because I wanted it. I would still have a house and a car regardless - I just have a nicer garden, live in the middle of a forest and have a big plot of land as opposed to a house in the city or an apartment - same for my car, I have a reasonably expensive SUV which is useful in the winter but I could get by with a regular car that has 4wd that would be significantly cheaper and still do the same job.

Actually my next house is 5x more expensive than my current one and my next car will probably be 3x more expensive than my current one - stop making assumptions about my purchasing decisions. And my next house will be no bigger than my current house - I am just moving to a much more expensive and exclusive area.

Still waiting for the quote where I said I wouldn't spend more than 700 or did you just pluck that out of your ass as well?

I still buy both based on the same criteria so your argument is completely moot. I don't buy a house because it might go up in value, I buy a house because I want that house - it looks nice, it has space, it will please me to live there. I actually *gave* my last house away, so clearly the profit was of no interest to me (despite it increasing in value by 80% since I bought it). Not everyone is a money oriented as you are it seems.

I’ve seen some Willy Waving over the years on graphics card forums but this takes the cake

WTF?? Who the heck cares what you spend on a house. I guarantee you, that you didn't set aside 2 million for a house and then based on a salesman decide to spend 4 million on a house.

Here

Up to 700 but only for the next gen Ti

And it's in the thread what's the most you would spend for a flagship card?

You buy a GPU with the same criteria as which you buy a house?

....Good luck with that.

He is actually painful.
Gives away houses and buys them with no regard to where they are. What a guy.

Not everyone is a money oriented as you are it seems.

Yeah I am "money orientated" because I said you cant compare buying a GPU to buying a house.

*Why am I actually replying to this charade?

In March in a completely different thread - in this thread I stated last week I would be buying 2x 2080Tis and did not set price limit. So using something I said 5 months ago instead of my most current statement is just cherry picking and completely irrelevant (I am allowed to change my mind in a 5 month period I think).

Gave away house to my ex because I was leaving the country and didn't need it - she did, I don't see what the big deal is, context is everything. I am simply making the point that just because you base all your buying decisions on money, it doesn't mean everyone else does.

Seriously, just stop now, you have ridiculed yourself enough, save some face and decency and just let it go now before you make yourself look even more foolish :(

You use an out of date, out of context quote because you can't support your argument and you accuse me of ridiculing myself? Do shut up.
