Accorded to the spec, Turing GTX 1180 will use Micron 16GB GDDR6 14 Gbps memory and GTX 1170 will probably have 8GB GDDR6.

If the price is correct, 35million Vietnamese dong, is £1160 we are looking £1400 card with vat.

Sure NV can create a card faster than the GTX1080Ti and price it like that, but already hearing the crying of the Nvidia fans err potential customers. Is so loud that created a ripple in the space time continuum, making it audible in the past, just right now

If that is going to be Nvidia's pricing for their xx80 cards then even though I can afford it I refuse to support such a price, That's nothing but greed.

They won't price it that high unless mining takes off again. I don't think miners will pay that in the current climate, and gamer's defo won't.

nV will know this.

Pricing like that would also be a massive boost to Intel, allowing them to more easily get a foothold with their GPUs. As well as creating tremendous ill-will toward nV that would last for years.

They aren't stupid i'm sure.

Now up to £800 I can see being feasible (and still too much/greedy). But £1400 would be madness.

I do think they'll be more expensive than the 10 series by some distance. Sadly I think the 1170 will be out of my price range; £450+ probably. WIth the 1180 coming in at £650 to £800.

I Live in Vietnam, and whilst I can't link other stores here, GFX cards are generally aligned with prices in the UK at the moment. Prices don't seem to move here as much. Currently 30k Dong to the pound (but has been between 27k and 36k);

It could be reasonable to assume price of £1150 is about right for the UK, if the link quoted above is genuine. 10% VAT here by the way.

HOWEVER, prices for most new tech here start very high and then drop rapidly. as an example the iPhone X was over $2000 on launch here, but dropped to sensible prices within 4 weeks.

Come on guys, it will not be that price. That is either a placeholder price or the said retailer is getting a handful so is doing a Gibbo and jacking prices up. RRP will not be much more than 1080 was.

Anyone who thins Nvidia will sell a 1180 for £1200-1400 is deluded.

Contrary to popular AMD belief, Nvidia's GPU prices have remained relatively static* when accounting for inflation. Prices might increase, but you are looking at $50 or so.

* what has happened is the lowest end has died off due to the rise of APU, and nvidia and AMD have found a viable luxury market segment for Titans etc. That can make it appear that prices have shifted higher but the mid and high end GPUs have kept pace with inflation since the Geforce 2.

16GB on a 1180? Sounds a bit pointless. Can get away with far less and save 16Gb for 1180Ti and Titan version. Though then again, they'd most definitely use 352-bit / 384 bit.

i think the issue is if they go to 8gb people may not like a drop from the 1080ti.... historically memory has gone UP from the previous gen Ti not down.

ideally i would have expected 12gb, but perhaps that memory configuration does not work well with the design of the board, (sticking my neck out a bit here but isnt 256bit memory bus better for 2 / 4 / 8 / 16 and 384 for 3 / 6 / 12gb )

i may of course be talking out of my exhaust.

You are right, there will only be certain configurations possible.

16Gb might be overkill but liekly Nvidia needs some additional value-add to help sell the cars. The 12nm process is the same 14/16nm with some tweaks, so there is no large node bump to get performance. Instead we will have a larger chip with some moderate architectural improvements (bug architecture changes typically require a smaller node to get the transition budget). So performance will be about 40% faster, that may not be enough to convince some people but a 16GB vram might.

Also means likely an 8Gb version at a much better price. And a 1180ti with 24Gb.

They can decide to have a different bus size through quantity and density of VRAM chips so they don't have to stick to the normal formula.

As for dropping down to 8Gb from the 1080ti, who in their right mind would go from the 1080Ti to a 1180? Unless the performance this generation is staggering, it'll be more of a slight sidegrade.

Why would Nvidia sell their next top card with the same performance as there top last gen? Doesn't make sense? I very much doubt it'll be a sidegrade.

i agree .... but that was not really my point.
personally i would never upgrade less than 1 generation... hell i probably would not go from 1080ti to 1180ti either.

but my point still stands, i do not think people buying a 1180 would be happy with getting less ram than in the 1080ti, they would expect at least a parity memorywise from the 1080ti to the 1180, which it would seem would not work if NV want a 256bit bus.
