Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Yup, several of these were in stock...and sadly...they sold.

When they went live nVidia's payment gateway was practically DDOS'd by the volume of people who bought TIs honestly they could probably throw those cards out the door at around 3 grand if they had the features to match. But the general consumer won't come close to paying that much.

It’s mind boggling the amount of time the same people are posting just negativity over and over.
It seems to be pretty much all day and night or at least whenever I look in.

Spend over the odds on a GPU or spend all of my time on a forum moaning about the price? Spending the money suddenly seems a lot more sane.

Funny thing is - I'd quite happily put down a grand or whatever for a 2080ti if I needed the performance and it really was the top end of what they could really make - but I'd literally rather buy a Vega 64 than spend a penny over £500 for a 2080.
The 2080 really needed to be about £500 and it would have been flying off the shelves. But with tons of 1080Ti’s left to sell at full price they could not afford to do that. Well they likely could and still make a nice profit, but makes no business sense when people are willing to pay full price.

See much positive about this release? Barely any stock of TI, any stock that is doing the rounds is mostly overpriced. 2080 may as well not exist as people aren't buying that many of them, check out the official geforce forums for more angst about the release and delays.

What an utter fail of a release from the full force green milking machine. What is so sad is people buy this crap at crazy extorsion prices adding more fuel to the problem year by year.

There isn’t a lot positive about the price, but neither is there much positive in someone spending hours/days/weeks of their time on here posting the same negative stuff over and over. There must be something better to do.

I don't have much sympathy for nVidia - in any other generation the 1080ti would have been in the position of the GTX470, etc. anyhow and even adjusting for inflation and costlier production and so on more like a £500 card.

2080 is a joke, nvidia seem to have banked on this selling because of the gimmick of dlss, and the somewhat more useful feature of ray tracing. But as bfv and tomb raider have shown you need to drastically reduce the res on a TI to make use of RT effects. And that fact doesn't seem to have escaped the notice of many users knowing that the 2080 is going to be borderline pointless for RT effects as it just doesn't have the grunt to do it properly, hence them sitting on store shelves.

said it elsewhere on here but if you think the 2080 is a joke whats the 2070 going to be, thats going to be the most pointless card of the 3 the least capable card over all and no sli all for what £500+ yeah can see that being a big seller.

Don't like it don't respond, simple as that. I think you'll find there's more negativity flying about for these cards than positivity.

And i'm pretty sure posts on a forums don't take hours days or weeks to do, so might want to look into that if that's the case on your end.

It has been around 3 years now since the 10 series launch and this what nvidea have to show. the 1080 Ti should be no more than £400 max! and the rest of the line up following suit.

If the 2070 releases as an rtx i would have to really wonder what's in the water at nvidia hq. Top end 1 grand plus card rtx effects at 1080p, second tier card currently unknown, third tier card, forget about it.

well its branded as rtx2070 and they have specs out for it having gigarays and tensor cores so let the comedy continue i guess.

Wasn't even aware of that, i thought for sure it would be gtx and only the 2 top end cards would be RTX branded. :p

You are posting the same stuff over and over going back pages and pages, that takes some doing when you take into account the reading as well.

This is the speculation thread which you are not doing. Maybe the people coming to this thread want to read speculation, not just the same negativity from the same people.

It also takes some doing for someone to read back over my posting history on the subject so congrats on having not much better to do.

If you have a problem with it seeing as you seem to be taking the green kool aid intravenously then put me on ignore, problem solved. Simple fact is pricing and availability of these cards is a big issue regardless if you like it or not. Barely any stock and rampant price gouging are going to be talked about so i suggest you deal with it.

Who would he be spiting? That is none of your business what he does with his own money and because of posts like yours, I can't wait to get mine and join in the 2080Ti fun :)

@Kaapstad Hope you get one at least :)

From what I have seen so far the 2080 Ti is a much better card than I was expecting and that is before you get to use RTX and DLSS.:)
