Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I’ll leave it there as you seem very hyped up about it for some reason. People can enjoy games however they want. Nothing makes anyone else’s opinions any more or less valid.

Considering I’ve been gaming for over 20 years I’d say my judgement is fairly balanced as to what’s reasonable.
Heh, I actually missed the last bit of your comment that I quoted, which is spot on. Indeed a case of different horses for different courses. I am not hyped at all, just having a friendly conversation as far as I can tell. Not sure why you got defensive. Sorry if I offended you :)

Really? Command & Conquer 3 is locked at 30 fps and it's just fine.
Exactly, there are loads of games that I can name which play perfectly fine at 30fps. But you know, horses for courses and all that :p

Crysis was fine at lower framerates, due to some of the stuff they implemented(apparently) and I suspect Crytek was favouring frametimes over pure FPS.

I would check out the DF video on Crysis which they did recently, and it seems Crytek actually did optimise the game in certain ways,as it was doing stuff which is even uncommon today.

Looking at what CDPR are planning for the game, unless it gets downgraded,it required a GTX1080TI at 1080p apparently to get 30FPS:

Before people thought it was running at 4K,apparently it wasn't. I expect it might be the next Crysis especially if it is being developed for next gen consoles too,ie,the PS5 and next XBox.
crysis came out on xbox 360

sure it lost a bit of eyecandy but it was still the same game and the visuals still in the same league, tho not in the same league position of course.

The console version uses a later version of CryEngine used in Crysis 2 which could scale better down to console specs, but at the expense of graphical quality.

DF did some great videos on the technical side of both Crysis and Crysis2:

Visuals changed quite a bit, mountains with foliage on the pc version were virtually bare on the console version. I think foliage overall was toned down substantially. Was impressive how the managed to fit it all into the vram of a 360 though.

Speaking of Crysis, I just fired up the 64 bit demo and maxxed all the settings. I got 30-45 fps on an i7-8700 and a Titan XM at 3440x1440.
Not surprised. The game engine on Crysis 1 was pants.
Crysis 3 had far superior graphics, and scales much nicely on current hardware, even if the game is 5 1/2 years old.

Hopefully we see a good boost on performance in the £250-300 range, these tend to be the main sellers, but I have been underwhelmed by the performance gains since the r9-290 (which I’m still using)

That said Ive been saving and I’m going to up my budget this year and I’m likley to spring for the 1170

Hence why they are "underwhelming" as it upsells the cards above them.
