Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Buying a new card yonks before the game is released is not a good idea, until you know what it needs. What happens if it is launched at the end of next year, and Nvidia releases 7NM cards which make a GTX1080TI look underpowered??
I will be buying a 1170 for games I have in my library now that need the extra bit of performance like Final Fantasy 15 which I have put off playing, also because I want some new tech :D

My guess is a 7nm 1280Ti will be coming out around the time Cyberpunk 2077 does, but we will have to wait and see.

What are the chances the new GPU's will have HDMI 2.1?

I ask because I am hoping 2019 TV's (specifically LG OLED's) might support HDMI 2.1 so having a GPU with it would be handy.

Well that's the big unknown... we still don't know for sure, but if it ends up at 15-20%, that's not bad and more than a 'small' margin. At higher resolutions, that could make all the difference. Given how long Pascal has been out, Nvidia have certainly had time to make some strides, but we shall just have to wait and see...

A Titan V is about 33% faster @2160p than a Pascal Titan but it is hard to notice the difference in gaming so I tend to use the later card most of the time purely because it is quieter with a waterblock.:)

That I can agree with.

The 1170 FE will likely be over £400 and the 1080 will likely get a price cut and be under £400. If no price cut they will bundle it with many things to make it more attractive to people.

rumoured to be a $50 cut on msrp. 1080ti will be -$100.

Remember the £ was much stronger when the 1080 came out, and factor in inflation, and they would add $50 regardless. so yea, £400+ for a 1170/2070, £700 for a 2080, £900 for a 2080+.

Has anyone got a link to a graphic relating to GPU prices through the ages?
I just can't get my head round £900+ for a top tier card (Titans aside). It seems bonkers. and £700 for a mid/high range card? seems bonkers. What was it like back through the ages (adjusted for inflation)? I seem to recall it felt more like £500 for a top tier card back in the day (inflation considered).

I paid less than £900 for my Titan X Maxwell on release.

It would be weird if Nvidia started selling standard high end cards at those prices.

end of the day, people will buy them- specially those that may have gone 980ti and 4k g-sync/1440p ultra monitors that didn't take up 1080ti - you'd hope for them its double the jump in performance

Nvidia aren't going to lower their profits just to compensate for our weak Pound. So although I don't think prices will be quite this extreme, they're certainly going to be some level of eye-watering.

Remember its quite possible for companies to put out conflicting bits of information to keep the competition guessing and also to find where leaks are coming from.

Its why I waited until Crysis was released to get a proper graphics card upgrade, since we should get more information on what level of hardware is required and what tech it might support.

So basically they don’t know and are making stuff up? No surprise there then, business as usual :p

And the lies of WCCFTECH continues

Dear all,

This is ---- from Manli’s marketing team. First of all, thanks for all your support MANLI !! About the product registration on EEC, it’s not officially applied or provided by Manli. We are still investigating at the moment. It is not the real information, we are still checking where the information from and who provided.

Thanks for your cooperation!!

Best Regards,

But people like it, this is good for wccftech, their views will go up even more now. Lol

But in the case of Crysis you needed the best there was available in SLI. There was no need to do research to know that, it was that ahead of its time. Wish more games were made like that.

I played it maxed out 21-22fps. These days a lot of people moan unless they get minimum 144fps. Lol. I am still happy playing some games 30fps with all the 4K goodness. I will probably be doing that with Cyberpunk 2077. But I know a game like StarCitizen will need 60fps to be enjoyable. It just depends from game to game.
