Geforce Titan rumours.

You don't usually slip like that with your memory and I've seen you in loads of debates where you can be quite aggressive/passionate. With LtMatt questioning you, I felt the presence of something happening around me and logged on to see what happened after checking the news :p.

Sadly the special one wasn't in a playing mood :(.

Depends which part you land on. ;) Some of those chair legs make mighty fine attachments according to Mrs LtMatt.

LMAO I fear for you when the missus gets all experimental on your literal buttocks :D.

In which case yields can't really be used as an excuse for the ridiculous pricing until things become clearer.

Remember its a business to make money and people will make all types of claims to make money.

Im not saying there right or wrong but i approach things like this with an open mind.

Ive been gaming since 1981 so i have a lot of experience.

I guess time will tell.

Just like it always is something bigger and better is always lurking around the corner to blow the latest technology clean out of the water.
Normally in the short term with GPU's and longterm with CPU's.

Well "ridiculous" is a subjective term. There is the economics of it as well which should be considered. It may be "ridiculous" to you but this is where nVidia feel they can achieve the maximum profit by selling an appropriate amount of units at this margin of profit.

If they aren't happy with the returns when it goes to market then they can either drop the price or wait it out.

I would think NVIDIA have been making Graphics cards for longer than that, that and they have an idea as to how to meet thermal guidelines for Rack and blade compute servers... but I'm sure you know more with regards to thermal engineering.

Do you not think that if there was a problem other sites would have picked up on, especially given the lengthy embargo and presumably rigid testing guidelines NVIDIA would likely have provided reviewers with.

Could be as simple as them not understanding the Boost settings, as I believe you can specify temperature or power constraint as the priority one to control throttling (Certainly looks like it in the MSI Afterburner version Guru3d showed).

Why bother to read reviews??

So basically by your weird logic,Nvidia has no problems ever in Hardware or software. Considering that both AMD and Nvidia have had their fair share of issues,I think not.

So when The Techreport reported AMD stuttering and no other site did,it was all wrong. But funny how AMD confirmed it and is working on fixes. Nvidia V-Sync stuttering which was also fixed??

What about the bumps issue or AMD GSOD?? All issues, which the companies eventually worked on,once they were highlighted.

OTH,I don't have a religious trust in such companies.

The same website even tested the differences between the same models of GTX680 cards,to see the effects of the non-deterministic boost. It was upto 6% difference IIRCwith different samples of the same card under the same conditions.

Moreover,Hardware.fr are are a very good site and are the major French review site. They know what they are doing.

Its funny how you go an about Tesla and Quadro cards, which have far higher certification standards than consumer parts and are clocked lower. They are the best chips, and are conservative clocked to meet TDP targets stringently.

Even the cooler is different on the K20X.

Also not why it is necessary to post 2 identical comments in 2 different threads.

Because, you did more or less the same.

Edit!!

However, this will go around in circles with you,so I agree to disagree with you and thats that!!

£840? I guess I'll be keeping my decrepit old GTX680 for another year or so.

I remember the heady days of having actual disposable income... I earn so much more now than I did a few years back, but expenses of life just seem to spiral up twice as fast. I can't remember the last time that I had any money spare at the end of the month to buy something for myself. It's been a couple of years at least...

Indeed. But not about AMDs high prices at that point in time, so on yer bike! :p :D

As above: my whinging was more to do with the price they were charging in relation to the amount of time it took to release better drivers. I think that was a fair point to make even if the AMD socialists around here closed rank and shouted at me.

It gets worse when you have children... I went without for years and years but now they have all grown up and both working, I seem to do well at the end of each month.

I am exactly the sort of person this card is aimed at yet I've had 2 sitting in my basket since 2pm but have resisted so far.

I have a pretty good grasp of economics but I think there is more to it than that or at least Nvidia should be looking at it from a slightly different angle.

Enthusiasts who can afford them will buy them, I fall into this category. There is also a category that you hear about who will buy anything Nvidia. I haven't come across these people myself.

You also have a grey area filled with people who may have been interested depending on price or will not buy because they have seen this before from Nvidia. I imagine it is a fairly big group. This is the demographic that maybe Nvidia should consider.

My basket remains incomplete because bit by bit, Nvidia have chipped away at my good will. I've always bought their cards but more and more, I feel that I am being taken for a ride.

Longterm it could have an impact on them. Maybe not, maybe they don't care.

Tbh when you have children, especially when they're young you have to put expensive hobbies aside, anyone seriously considering spending that much when they have young kids/other priorities needs a reality check unless they have money growing out of their ears.

Good to see even an upgrade junkie like you could drop the hobby when you knew it was right :)

LOL! GTX680 is a great card!

It still better than what most gamers have!!

True. But we'll know from the price whether or not these are moving at a rate at which nVidia are happy with. If they fly off the shelves then unfortunately it will remain the same.

Especially, as essentially it is unrivalled as a single GPU.

Even though you argued and never acknowledged the fact that performance was always there when they were both overclocked and that matching out the box performance was available June/July when you kept pointing out performance not arriving since November/December?

Spoffle was certainly onto something about some looking for censorship while having civil discussions.:(

I'd say 90% of the posts in this thread are people bickering about why they think it's a stupid card/price or not.

Greg has explained umpteen times why he wants one, it's perfectly valid, he has the money. If other people owning extreme hardware upsets you then never go to XS. I enjoy living vicariously through other posters' rig pics and benchies. But they won't feel like uploading them if all they get is aggro from luddite skinflints.
