German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

Ferrari obviously don't know the meaning of subtle - don't think they could have made it any more obvious.

The win should be given to Massa imo.

Feel sorry for Massa, that instruction was as clear as day - you don't need to be told someone is faster than you, the driver has mirrors he can see if Alonso is faster. "Can you confirm you understand that message?".

Disgusting.

Oh give it up over the past while only one team has a reputation for cheating and thats Mclaren.

However in the last three years when i've been watching they haven't.

You don't watch well enough then.

Remind me again why Ron Dennis isn't there anymore?

Because they cheated with another cars designs.

How about the whole hamilton liegate to cheat for points.

No I don't agree it's just mclaren that cheat but to say they haven't in the last 3 years is comical :D

I don't believe that there was enough proof that the material they had off Ferrari was used in the designs, the fact Ron Dennis stepped down is really not that much of an issue as he is still with McLaren!

They haven't done team orders as it was done today!

As disappointing as I found that swap, I'm not sure Ferrari could come out looking good either way.

On the one hand, you get the sunamas and dannyjo22s of the world saying that Massa is in no shape, way or form good enough to beat Alonso and that if he does it must be down to luck and Ferrari should tell him to get out of the way. On the other hand, you have a ban on team orders and the natural wish that drivers actually race each other for the win.

Still....pretty much ruined that race for me. It was looking alright (despite the emasculated mess that Hockenheim is compared to its former layout) up until then.

Team orders were always a part of the game in Formula One. Christ, they used to be able to bring a guy in to take his car and give it to his team-mate! Fangio won the '56 title thanks to Collins pulling in and handing his car to the Maestro. Yes, there is a nominal ban in place on them now. But we all know it happens - Button gets told not to pass Hamilton, Massa gets told to let Alonso by, RBR consistently screw over Webber in favour of Vettel. It happens. It's only when it's blatant that people get all uptight about it.

Anyway. I do hope that the race up until that point lays to rest any concerns that Massa has completely lost all the pace that he once had....

it's obvious you have not watched F1 through the 60s\70s\80s\90s and now the 2000s like I have and remember what they did.

They did no more than any other team, all teams over the years have sought to gain an advantage by bending the rules and using team orders. Its nothing new.

If you've been watching F1 such a long time you should realise that.

Team orders happen every race........ today we saw the ugly side of it doesn't make Ferrari any worse a cheat than any of the other teams.

If Vettel hadn't gifted Massa the lead by playing the pillock at the start, being honest if Alonso had led Massa into the 2nd lap judging the pace how much do you think Alonso would have pulled out on massa over the race distance?

Yes Massa drove a good race but I still don't think he has the pace that some think he had or has. They should have let massa have the win but thats not ferraris way. They run one car and have for decades now.

No and if you actually read what I've said I never said it was ok, I'm just not up in arms about this one when everyone else seems happy to accept it's ok when Hamilton and Button have pulled the same stuff this season and coded fuel messages are used all the time.

Ferrari should just have been less blatant, that though is the fault of smedley.

100% agree.

There are team orders in the entire pit lane. The problem for Ferrari is that they made it blatantly obvious and the public (gullible as they are) actually do believe the team orders don't exist. So, when Ferrari showed to the world that team orders do actually exist, the public are now up in arms.

Ferrari did what was right for the team. I've said for some time now that Ferrari have made Alonso their No.1, which means that Ferrari (and RedBull, for that matter), will ensure that the right driver wins. RedBull's problem is that they don't seem to have any control over Webber, while Ferrari have control over their No.2 driver.

What made me laugh was when Horner was suggesting that Ferrari issued a team order. Shocking.
