German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

team order rules is nonesense. ofc Ferrari was right to get Alonso as many points as possible, he has a better shot at it than Massa.

imagine if Ferrrari start winning races and in the end they lose the driver's championship by a few points because Massa had won that race. the media and the fans would want team manager's head for incompetence.

get rid of that rule so people don't have to lie and stop this hypocrisy

FFS @ Rob Smeadley... losing my respect with every word he utters now :/ He was the only likable guy in the whole Ferrari team.

He (and almost anyone connected with the Ferrari F1 team) is currently in a MASSIVELY difficult position. It would probably have been worse for the team if he refused to be interviewed. I feel very sorry for him actually.

On the one hand, you get the sunamas and dannyjo22s of the world saying that Massa is in no shape, way or form good enough to beat Alonso and that if he does it must be down to luck and Ferrari should tell him to get out of the way.

Had Alonso not been held up earlier by Massa, Alonso would definitely had been able to open up a gap over Massa.

Alonso's problem is that for one reason or another Massa is consistently able to get ahead of Alonso. Then what proceeds is Alonso being stuck behind a slow(er) Massa.

Massa is not a bad driver, however this year, he has been poor. This is the first race in a long time where Massa actually turned up. It was only a few races ago that Alonso lapped Massa.

But the drivers championship rewards the best driver, may as well scrap it if teams are allowed to influence it.

Pfft. Why is it apparently acceptable that just because the rule doesn't work (which it doesn't), that's a good reason to ignore it? I know a lot of people who think the fox hunting ban is stupid (altho I don't agree with them) but that doesn't make it right to break it.
The point of the ban for me seems to be to stop Formula One looking unsportsmanlike. So 'conserve fuel' to stop Button overtaking Hamilton (for example) is deemed okay because that's subtle and isn't changing anyone's position. Swapping the first and second driver as clearly as day is blatantly team orders and needs to be punished. Not saying I agree with it, but that's how it seems to me.

Well well well, Ferrari re-writing the chapters on "how to make sporting events feel worthless: fast".

Rule #1 of team orders, don't make it sound like team orders.
Rule #2 of team orders, don't make it look like team orders.
Rule #3 of team orders, never admit to team orders.

Ferrari managed to break all three of these. Stef could have pretty much said we ignored the rules for what I care during his EJ harassment. The Ferrari team have made themselves look like idiots, and then think we will join them in the idiot ball pit to throw some plastic coloured balls about.

Sorry, but at the of the day, Alonso was NOT able to overtake Massa, and Massa was in front, therefore Alonso did not deserve to win!

well if they were clearer than Red Bull would be 1 and 2 now, instead of 3 and 4

If Red Bull hadn't given team orders like the rules state Vettel and Webber wouldn't have collided in Turkey, Webber would have won it with Vettel in second and they'd still be 1 and 2.

The problem is that RedBull are inept at handling/managing their drivers.

Ferrari know how to handle their drivers and are able to tell their No.2 driver to move over, if the team need this to happen. RedBull seem to have little control of Webber and it is this which has caused the crashes and seen Webber taking points away from Vettel.

The way I see it though, is that RedBull are doing the public a great favour by ballsing up their team orders, as this has prevented Vettel from maximising his points total, which in turn is keeping the title race alive.

I agree, fair point. Of all the times that Massa has been holding up Alonso this year it's the one time they shouldn't have done it. Earlier on in the year where Alonso was much much faster and stuck in the midfield is when they should have done it instead of losing points with both cars.
