German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

Hypocrisy everywhere i turn too, The net/television and radio. (probaly a bunch of it in the newspapers aswell)

Kimi won the 2007 championship with Massa's help, Even remember him letting Kimi past @ a point in a race.

Hamilton won the same race (Germany) back in 2008 with Heikki's help and back in 2008 again, This time in China Kimi let Massa through.

Why wasn't anything said back then?
The loons who act as if it's the first time team orders have happened ever since 2002 are a joke.

From Noble F1 twitter:

What referring them to the world motor sport council means I don't know, maybe for further punishment?

They can get other sanctions now. A good call by the stewards imho.

From FIA
"In a statement issued on Sunday night, the FIA stated that a breach of Article 39.1, which bans team orders, and 151c,
which relates to bringing the sport into disrepute, had been committed"

No one is saying it is the first time etc etc etc, however, Alonso is 5th in the WDC standings at the moment, he's not 2nd or 1st (not that makes it any better). Team orders are part of the sport, but today, is was completely unnecessary. And then the way they played it, and spun it, just made it 10x worse.

Exactly. I don't understand it myself. If Jenson lets Lewis through during the last race of the season for the extra point Lewis needs to win the championship I don't think the Mclaren fangirls will be complaining.

As much as I'm against this sort of thing I have to agree with Dimi, it's been happening in recent years since its ban. I blame the FIA instead of Ferrari, they implemented this rule as a knee jerk to 2002, with no way of enforcing it properly, I hate to see it happen but from Ferraris point of view they have made the right decision, $100k is a bargain for a better shot of the WDC with no detrement to the WCC.

I'm not sure what the world motor sport council can do that the stewards/FIA haven't already done, I guess we will have to just wait and see though.

You're quite right, but the issue is that in none of those cases was there such a clear swapping of the lead of a race. It's no coincedence this is the biggest team orders debacle since Austria 2002 when exactly the same thing happened. People seem to be able to accept team orders up to a point; it's when a clear win is taken from one driver and given to another that it gets jumped on. Nobody can get worked up about some shuffling around in the lower point places.

If Jenson was FORCED to let Lewis through just over half way through the season when Lewis was 5th in the championship standings, there would be though ;)

Why should the lead matter or is it just a rule for winners?

lol thats a completely different situation. For example, if Jenson is already out of the championship and Lewis just needs the extra few points then of course Jenson would let Hamilton past. He should't even need team orders for that. If they both had a chance of the championship though then there would be uproar. No wonder you don't understand it coming out with stupid comments like that.

Ohhh so 'no team orders' which are there to stop changing the results of a race, don't apply if it means changing the results of the WDC? How does that even make sense?

The rule is either there for every one in every race despite track position, WDC position etc, or it isn't.

Ferrari fined $100,000 (peanuts to them I would imagine) and referred to the World Motor Sport Council. Dunno what the council can do though, maybe they will take away their constructors points for this race.
