Haha thats freaky. I only just realised I need a DisplayPort cable to run 1440p.

Got a message that my PC shipped yesterday and arrives on Monday. Did you sort your order out?
I am waiting for a quote, I changed the cpu cooler for the Kraken X62, and might hold on to my GTX970 until the pornographic prices go back to normal! It all depends on the quote, It's my second quote, I had to change the first one when I discovered the strix Z370-H does not have asus support anymore . I am going to keep the F, but really wanted the extra usb ports...

I looked at the Kraken as a friend has it and the infinity mirror thing looks cool. But it’s not Asus Aura synch compatible, you have to use the NZXT CAM software which doesn’t get very good reviews. Also in AIO tests I saw it came near the bottom. The thicker 38mm rad on the Asetek 570LX (that they use in the default ocuk techlabs 240+) seemed to do well.

I started looking at the Gallium but saw plenty of vids that said the 8700k was much better for BF1 and PUBG which is what I plan to play mostly. Once you bosh an i7 and 1080ti into the Gallium its very close to the germanium although I see its had a price cut too.

Re: mobo. What about the maximus x hero - that would get you £60 cashback with an 8700k and has more usb I think.

I made my decision after watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8y0JBsZ5t0&t=2s, and this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf_ejKGzd9c. Do you think the ocuk techlabs is able to have the same performance?? Let me know about your gaming temperatures! My objective is to keep the cpu under 80s.
I guess It's better to go ryzen if you decide to go 8600K, specially in my case because I play at 1440p. In the future the extra threads might become superior to the 8600K.

I think I will try to keep the default motherboard, that way is easier to keep the discount. (there are a certain number of components or key one you can't change in order to keep the price discount.)

I cant recall where I saw review. As with most things they seem to get different results with different testers. I just remember reading that the thicker 38mm rad used on the asetek 570lx (which is what the ocuk techlabs is) gave it a cooling advantage against most. I would have preferred if it was 280mm length to use 2x140mm fans like the kraken. More so as I was getting halos fitted which are larger but bigger fans means lower rpm.

bigger rads are always better then thicker ones - shame you couldnt get 280

It arrived nice and early yesterday. The afternoon at work went sooo slowly. PC was very well packed. Turned on first time and all good. Very quiet as I had the glass panel off to remove the packaging placed inside to stop the GFX card etc moving around and its silent even with that removed. My RAD was installed at the top of the case – I assumed they build them all the same per the pics but maybe case dependent or more likely as I had FAN halos to have these on the top facing down. I could have specified but no bother – the only issue is more an aesthetics one whereby the RAD and fans are lower than the top of the rear 140mm FAN with Halo so there is a bit of a halo overlap.

Strangely they fitted the 960 EVO to the top M2 port without the heatsink. No biggy I can move that myself if I really need to / can be bothered.

Took quite a while for Windows 10 to go through all its updates so only had time to install Steam and play a bit of CSGO last night. Will install Origin & BF1 tonight and try that on 1440p.

Has anyone found that 16GB on this system wouldn't be enough for future gaming? As im so tempted to order one however have a nagging doubt 16GB may not be enough 12 months down the line, and would rather try and find a route to get there now with a stable overclock when i spoke to sales on the phone adding two sticks would affect the overclock but wasnt a suggestion to moving to a two 16gb sticks instead of 8.

Not sure as stuck with 2x8gb 3200 on mine. Would have considered 2x16gb if the price was right and there was a deal on TG Nighthawk LED 3000Mhz that was like £250 but it finished before I could get a quote.

I’m no expert but why would adding two more sticks later on affect the overclock? They are sold in pairs and the dimm slots work in dual mode. As long as you bought same spec and speed memory surely it would be fine?

If you can get it on deal then yea go for it but another £200 to get to 32gb was just a step to far for my budget.

Ill try and give them a call later to see if i can get a price, i am probably being paranoid that i need more than 16GB

If it helps you can save £17.50 on delivery if you get your posts on here up to 250. And Asus doing a cashback £45 on the strix 370-F + 8700k. Thats £62.50 less to pay on 32gb ram lol

Thats a lot of posts in a short period of time, you found that 16 GB is enough for you? I have just finished downloading BF1 looking forward to giving that a go tonight

Luckily I had 100 or so from years back so was not hard. Just need another 700 or so to access the members market now.

I have only had mine 2 days so not had a chance to see what memory is used but I asked on here in the memory section and most said 16gig is fine.

So have you already got a Germanium and looking to add more memory? I had assumed you were in the process of ordering one.
