Getting iOS7 onto my iphone :)

Now I've had this on my ipad2 for a day I have to say I still really like it. The only thing I've found that I don't like is the folders. I now get this little bubble up in the middle of the screen that shows 9 icons at a time:confused:

Battery life is still as amazing as it always was. 19 hours standby and 1hr 10 usage and still on 100%

I usually get around 3 weeks. I always get the 2 week warning that it hasn't been plugged into the mains to sync with iTunes.

3 weeks on a single charge  you must never use it I'm lucky to get 3 days on any of mine..

I tried 7 again on my mini and my battery has just dropped below %10 and it was full at 8am this morning. On 6 I was easily getting a full day and a half ? It also seems to take longer to charge so something is munching the battery.

to be honest I think there's something wrong with your ipad :( iOS7 was giving way way way more than that even on the betas with mine.

I'm still getting probably 2 weeks of light use between charges.

Always do a DFU update of major software releases. "Updating" always causing niggling issues IMO.

My mini gets used heavily all day and I charge it every night. My 4 gets less use mainly by the kids and it just about lasts 3 days.

How do you do a DFU update ? Is it the same as how I flash back to 6 from 7 but with a 7 file.. ?

The way apple has made a 4 inch screen look much larger by removing the status bar etc is very clever (though not a first). There are some exceptionally attractive parts to the ui.

The screen size is still a huge hindrance to me though. Just typing this post has been insanely annoying because everything is so physically cramped! I would prefer to be on my nexus 4 but it is at home.

5 inch screen and the ability to browse network shares would make ios a winner for me.

I've never been able to get over how good the battery is on it tbh. Shortly after I bought it (18 months ago) I happened to read an article that said that there was a newer version of ipad2, with better battery life. I must have the better one. The ipad 3 had just been released so mine was £329 and still is largely.

I love the 4.8" screen on my S3 but I can still see the appeal of a smaller phone. I think if they just edged it out 4-5mm and made it all screen like an S4 and ended up with about a 4.1" screen then most people would be happy. Oh and I mean in the screen shape of the 4/4S etc. not the long screen. The S2 is a great size screen and phone but with a huge bezel. Must be a happy medium in there somewhere.

Yeah - I want a bigger screen on the iPhone, but I don't necessarily want the actual footprint of the phone to get much bigger.

Plug it in to iTunes, then hold power and home until you see a message that the iPad is in recovery mode.

Now click "restore" (the only option) and it'll redownload the firmware and flash it clean as a whistle.

Up to you if you want to set it up as "a new iPad" or "restore from backup" once it's restored, although I would personally set it up from scratch to rule out any weird bugs or glitches from the previous backup.

4S upgraded this afternoon, or rather a totally fresh install and set up from scratch again rather than restoring a backup - figured I'd give it the best chance :)

Looking good so far but time will tell.

One thing that I'm finding rather bizarre/annoying is the Twitter and Facebook quick-post functions that used to be in the notification center are totally gone and not present anywhere.

Anyone know if you can move the keyboard out the way in the Facebook app?

When writing loads in the previous version, you could move the keyboard out the way to re read the post?

Yeah pass code , but seems odd if you can select a pic for the lock screen only for it to be blurry.

Not really, photo shows normal until you slide to unlock. Effectively you're sliding another transparent layer over the image, hence the frosting - same as throughout the rest of the UI.

Anyone else notice when you type, random words are underlined?

Normally this is for times and dates, touch the underlined word and iPhone will offer to make a calendar event for that date or time or it will let you check your calendar for that time to see if you already have anything on pretty handy :)
