Gibbo is getting an R600!!

Gibbo probably won't do it as games would be there already for RMA testing.
Why do you assume they have games for rma testing? Gibbo already said they only have 3DMark. Ther are plenty of threads about guys who rma'd cards with game-specific problems, and had their cards returned as "working fine".

test it on Windows XP 32bit and 64bit tbh... THE gaming platform still thanks to poor drivers and not everyone having 4gig of ram to hit that sweet spot. It will be what most of the masses have on the release of the beast.

If only the release of Crysis was at the same time as R600 launch... would have been xmas early

Last time i looked you had to pay for those games and they are not exactly graphically intensive either. (demo doesn't tax modern machines)

What planet you on? stalker and SupCom NOT graphically intensive? Lol

I would add to the list tomb raider legend if possible as currently the 8800 series is the only card that can really handle it in next gen mode and it would be interesting to see how R600 compares. I think theres a demo but not sure if you can enable next gen mode or not.

SupCom is nowhere nearly as GPU intensive as it is CPU intensive.

BS.

im hoping 20%+ faster in most games FPS wise over 8800 gtx

it should easily be that, but i have a feeling it wont be.. if thats the case then not too good for such a long wait.

It would be great if it diddled all over the 8800, would make the competition interesting again. Nice to have the choice and nice to have the competition driving the technology.

I love watching these technology races.

I agree 100%

Amazingly, there are more & more people on this forum who are almost willing the R600 to fail, so they can gain some perverse satisfaction - they probably have an "I told you so" post saved, ready to paste up should the R600 turn out to be slower. They also seem to be blind to the fact that it is better for everyone if neither company pulls ahead too much.

You hearing voices or something? What "people" are you refering to?

I agree with Bubby, but there's no point naming names... further to that, I can't even think of any names!

But I have read a few posts which seem to optimistically state how much the R600 will suck... I don't like ATI because two of their cards have messed up on me, but I would still prefer ATI's new cards to be more powerful than nVidias just to keep the competition going and keep prices falling!

Please, did you not see the last R600 thread before it was deleted due to the massive train wreck it had turned into, culminating in the threat of physical violence - always a winner esp. when made over the Internet. One of many over the last few months. The same people end up in these threads in circular debates that end up in flames and insults. Many people don't post to this particular board anymore (and have stated so) due to the rabid fanboism from both sides.

With the release of the 8800 and the delay of the R600, it has just got worse of late.

yeah, it's quite sad especially considering that it is over a piece of metal and plastic - there are more important things to get your blood pressure up over.

I think he was suspended.

Any way R600 will more likely be no more of a perfromance boost as to what we have now.

I have 90 days to step up using EVGA, as the R600 is already old tech IMO.

Then again. If it is faster NV will release the 8900 earlier and I will get a faster card sooner :D

Getting my new PC next week and I dont want to wait for the ATI cards to see if they're any good! From what Ive heard they are only slightly better than the 88XXs but theyre going to cost a lot more at release? Someone please reassure me :D

JUst need to play the waiting game and find out!

Im more intersted in their mid range atm tbh! I only run games at 1280x1024 so I aint going massively top of the range anymore!

I looking for the 8800gts ATi style!

I much prefer their Monthly Catalyst drivers to NVidia's WWCBA ones! and that kids is When we can be a**** :p lol
