Going to be interesting to see what the release performance is like for mining.

@Gibbo
how about a deposit setup for forum members, I think this is how you guys did the 290x launch.
So forum members pay a £100 refundable deposit and it will get them a first come first served position in the Vega "stock list". They can select the spacific card on launch day, and back out if wanted as well. Pay the outstanding on launch day as well of course.
T&C
1) max 1 deposit per forum member
2) must pay outstanding balance on card within 24h of launch (otherwise auto refund of deposit)
3) must have more than 50? Forum posts
Any thoughts?
Edit T&C item 4) Apache14 gets 1st place in pre order / deposit list for having this amazing idea
Some clever marketing using Mining going on, feathers are being ruffled with rumours and its causing a pre-release panic which makes the product seem more interesting in regards to having to get one before the Miners/Gamers causing higher demand and potentially higher prices.
I'm still on the fence about getting one, I'm certainly not paying more than the RRP if high demand caused by mining puts the prices up. Let miners have them, hopefully when AMD realise no one is using their cards for gaming they will do something about it.
Why would AMD care if their cards are being used by non-gamers, they get to sell out even faster than they normally would and they make their money regardless.#
True this, but are things changing though? It seems like miners are here to stay so maybe AMD are starting to see them as a viable source of income. I don't know enough about it to judge. But I find it worrying, what if this is how it is now a perpetual battle between gamers & miners.Because they care about more than the next 4 months of sales. If miners wipe out cards and push people to consoles or to quit gaming then AMD has no customers left when the mining bubble bursts. Thats why. Gamers are a vastly more stable customer base than miners.
They are still a very volatile customer base. Also Gamers buy CPUs, keyboards, mice, etc etc. Hence why OCUK would rather have gamers than miners too.True this, but are things changing though? I get it from OCuk's point of view but I'm talking about AMD not retailers. AMD only do cpu's & gpu's, don't they & miners need both? They are still a very volatile customer base. Also Gamers buy CPUs, keyboards, mice, etc etc. Hence why OCUK would rather have gamers than miners too.
To answer your question I stack my chips with someone who doesn't invent figures Sorry that isn't convincing, I don't deny you may be correct but you've not provided evidenceSimple risk based economics.
Chance of mining disappearing in next 10 years =50%
Chance of PC gaming disappearing in next 10 years =0.002%
Where do you stack your chips?
P.S. figures invented by me but to make a point.
Not sure that makes much sense. Whats the point in a discounted gaming mouse if we have no GPU to game on lol.Yeah hearing the numbers in EU.
Flog them for maximum price Gibbo , then pass some of the profit back on killer savings for parts across the whole store
