@Gibbo - Vega Preorders?

Not sure that makes much sense. Whats the point in a discounted gaming mouse if we have no GPU to game on lol.

pmsl , can totally see the sound logic of that ! would be giving them away for free haha

If OCUK really want to stop miners. Going to Have to Use Members Market and get a team of People Trusting away- one card per customer to one address . even still cuts out half the user base but I don't think to many miners will gain access

Could be a really smart marketing trick to get rid of stock they otherwise would have trouble selling. :p

Or if true then there will be a barren wasteland every time you look in the AMD Vega tabs in the shops because the wild claims would suggest a Vega 64 would eclipse every previous card at mining.

Miners aren't shy about throwing money at this stuff either, it's a business decision to make money, you spend a few grand and over time it pays off the investment and earns a profit.

Gamers on the other hand want it for casual entertainment and are more price sensitive than miners because they will always be losing money on hardware.

Have to find out hard facts at launch, miners will have zero interest in it if it's not competitive.

Lets be honest, no matter what happens its the retailers such as OCUK who will be laughing. As they will be stock from the supplier at the same price regardless of the mining craze. We are the ones who are loosing out by inflated prices. :(

Short term they are laughing yes. Long term I'm sure they can see the danger this situation presents. When There are no PC gamers left because they can't buy GPUs who is going to buy all the other items OC sells? Miners won't. And as said before, miners are savy. If they start buying 100, 1000, 10000 cards a pop for their farms, you can be certain they aren't buying them from OCUK lol. They will be buying straight from supplier.

I don't think OCUK think this is a good situation.

Even if Gibbo finds a way to limit sales to members/gamers surely anyone with any sense would just flog the card for a few hundred more than they paid to a miner then wait a couple of weeks for fully flowing stock?
If they're as good as mining as the rumour... there will not be stock, ever. Ever.

Miners do not stop once they have 6-7 cards :p If it stays profitable, they buy all the cards. Every. Last. One.

Well, at least AMD will be making some money!!! :)
Who cares?

From a gamer's perspective, AMD could make billions, then decide to focus on mining over gaming. We end up losing either way.

Mining is not good for gamers, period. No matter how you spin it. If mining is here to stay, and vastly more profitable for AMD than gaming, then PC gaming will die. nV won't care about gamers either if mining makes 3x as much profit.

If all this is true, then AMD delaying the launch so that "gamers could have stock to buy" was complete BS.

If AMD were really worried about miners snapping up the stock, they wouldn't be enabling the mining optimisations until a couple weeks after the launch.

By turning on the mining instructions in the driver before launch, and putting the info out there so miners are aware, they demonstrate that they couldn't give a **** if gamers buy them, or if miners do.
Exactly, it's just all about sales. They're a despicable company :p

We all know businesses are about making money. It's how they treat their customers, and how honest they are with them, that differentiates.

AMD have gotten into a habit of saying one thing and then delivering something entirely different.

Dunno why you're badgering gibbo, there's an NDA with instructions on when to show videos of unboxing, when to show pictures of motherboard, when reviews will be allowed, when pre-orders are allowed to be put up, when products can be sold etc etc etc...

AMD would take a dim view of a pre-pre-order on Vega
