@Gibbo - Vega Preorders?

The clinically insane or those who hold a grudge against Nvidia ;)

Dont look at the mirror so much

a) Those with Ryzen or SkylakeX CPUs, because when the hell freezes, Nvidia will pull the finger to optimise the drivers for them.
b) Those with Freesync monitors.
c) Those who want GPU pass through on VM,
d) Those who want to have their conscious mind at peace and sleep at night.
e) Those who got a 1080, overclocked it to 2190, saw how pointless it is on DX12 at 2560x1440, sold it and went back to their trusty FuryX at 1190/600.
e) Me. For all the above reasons.

I get the impression @Panos isn't an Nvidia fan?

I'm still on the fence. Today I have been specing Gsync monitors and Nvidia cards. But I do keep thinking about HBCC, FP16 & DSBR.

Then you've got the higher DX12 feature set as well...

Also promise of higher minimums is something to wait and see too!

I'm keeping an open mind.

On the flip side, I prefer the Gsync monitors.

a) no idea
b) not for me, my Fury was great with my 4k FS monitor but that was a compromise on bells n whistles in games. With no AMD truly high-end due any time soon the only way to enable more of the bells n whistles was Nvidia. Swapping to Nvidia fast sync vs Freesync i've not seen that much of a difference tbh but will swap out for g-sync monitor sooner or later
c) can't comment
d) i sleep like a baby thanks as i did with my 7970 powering my gaming before the Fury and 1080ti
e) fair comment, i held out for Vega but when Vega FE gave us ballpark figures i gave up hope and went from Fury to 1080ti in 4k and the difference is stark

From Jan, but claims that HBCC will effectively double your vram.

This sounds like an extension to Ryzen. With Ryzen AMD made it possible to better multitask. I.e game whilst stream etc....

HBCC sounds like an extension of this but GPU side. It will allow you to alt tab out of games much more efficiently. At least that's one application of the technology.

Hello there,
I'm new here. Saw the discussion about RX Vega 64. I own for about 4 weeks a AMD Vega FE 16 GB and have tested for ETH mining.
I'm curious to know what is to do to get with the Vega Frontier Edition the same hash rate like expected 100 MH with new RX Vega 64
or 70 MH with RX Vega 56? Do I have to flash the card BIOS or are the drivers the issue?
Thank you in advance for a reply.

nobody knows or they are lying if they say they do - come back late next week when the cards are out and in peoples hands or the reviews are out
