Gigabyte B650 Gaming X (AX) Owners

So tell me why Gigabyte themselves told me it's not supported? Are you saying they lied to me so I will go out and buy a new Gigabyte motherboard? Post the links here, I want to see it for myself.

They released a new bios update in October.

It's listed in the agesa notes.

Edit: it's been covered in this thread recently. There is a link to a Reddit post where people have stated they have been successful in updating the bios and installing a 9000 series CPU.

You can say the same about many other Gigabytes B650 motherboards with multiple revisions, but they all have 8000 and 9000 series listed. And explain to me why Gigabyte telling me themselves that rev 1.4 and older do not have 8000 and 9000 series support.

The other boards don't have specific pages for the different revisions, the gaming X does, that is why.

That's clearly untrue, you can open any B650 motherboard that has multiple revisions and it will have specific pages for each revision. You either haven't looked or you're purposely posting on this thread to create controversy.

I opened a random Gigabyte B650 motherboard with multiple revisions below, even the oldest discontinued revisions listed support for 8000 and 9000 series.

I can always ask Gigabyte again if this has changed but according to their last response it was a hardware limitation.

"Only revision 1.5 support 9000 series processors, as we said before, due to HW hardware limitation, 1.3 version will not support 9000 series.

This is the second response I got from Gigabyte themselves confirming there's no support for 9000 series on revision 1.4 and older.

  1. Checksum : CEDB
  2. Update AMD AGESA 1.2.0.2a for next gen Ryzen X3D CPU performance optimized
  3. Add X3D Turbo Mode support
Same bios noted diff checksum tho as 1.5 rev board. I cant see them locking the 9000 series out when our boards are suppose to last ages supporting a good long while of cpu upgrades.

GB support might just be trying to get ppl to buy newer mb in their replies, who knows. I know i aint upgrading my mb when it should support new cpus for a good few years like amd says (i think they did)

That is the v2 version tho i think the other replies here are ref to v1 v1.0-1.2 motherboard. I still think they just dont update the cpu support pages etc cos lazy or they hope ppl will buy the later versions of the mb but the bios updates i think prove that that the older mb will work with 9xxx series just fine as thats the only thing that should matter as its am5 board and i dont think theres any hardware requirements needed to be able to support 9xxx cpus other than a bios update. The only thing i can think of that could be a issue is ram speed compatability, maybe 9xxx series needs higher speed mem than the 7xxx series but i dunno and i dont think it should matter if u use say 5600mhz ram vs whatever the new speeds are.

If it turns out to be true tho that early versions of the b650 dont support 9000 series cpus i will be miffed as i bought this at a premium when they came out well kinda as still expensive at the time about 500 for the cpu mb and ram combo, i hoped it would see me through a bunch of cpu upgrades like the older mb line ups were. If they are locked to just 7000 series i will be royaly miffed. Tho i have no plans to upgrade for about 5-10 years like my last upgrade lasted i am hoping by that time the last am5 cpus will be cheap and powerful than what i have now (7600x) and will be a easy upgrade.

I thought the same at first too, but after checking all their other B650 motherboards, only our model has this problem with no support for 8000/9000 series.

I asked them twice, it was no both times... :( Several months back and again just last week. That link is for the V2 of our motherboards, the fact that there's 5 revisions and a V2 of the Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX is troubling when only two of them support newer gen cpus. If I knew this model was going to be broken like this I would have bought something else.

Are you sure that comment isnt saying v2 motherboard and its v1.0-1.2? as the v1 1.0 motherboard i think i have the cpu support page isnt updated it just shows 7000 series cpus still so i dont think his comment was for our boards in this topic.

But if it turns out it works then thats good and a relief. So bios update is all we really do need then. :) I was pretty sure anyhow since reading the comments of the new bios now and then when i check and it always seemed like it was keeping up with support of new stuff and fixes.

But bare that comment above in mind it is reddit and just 1 person so far. ;)

WSK8GgZ

After a look on redit gb section found that if u look in the memory support page theres a drop down box which says 9000 support, take that as you will tho.

Yes, some brave soul needs go out and purchase a R7 9800x3d for their Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX Rev. 1.0-1.4. Complete days upon days of testing with multiple stress testing tools, along with gaming tests that will make Steve Burke blush and post their results here :D

New bios is out, still a 32 tho. But i guess this one proves it can do 9000 series as it says it explicitly in the notes and is for this board.

Another one who run Ryzen 7 9800x3d on ''unsupported'' B650 Gaming X AX rev.1.3
Gigabyte support is useless. They said that B650 Gaming X and AX rev.1.0-1.3 not support new ryzen processors, but this is the 3rd guy who run ryzen 7 9700x or 9800x3d on unsupported mobo.

They gave me the same answer, BUT several ppl run ryzen 7 9800x3d or ryzen 7 9700x on unsupported b650 gaming x and ax rev 1.0-1.4 motherboards. How is that possible? I'm very curious.
Can owners of these motherboards request a replacement after the manufacturer lied that their motherboards would support the new processors?
