Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

bios overclocking

Well that's darn nice if your running @ 3.7ghz with only 1.43v....is that in bios, speedfan or cpu-z....it would be even nicer if you posted a screenie.

that was done in the bios, with easytune i could only get to about 2.7?
i followed the guide from monstermunch
cant see how too attach screen shot in to this post

Wow i am amazed at that vcore....that is one fine chip you got there...Exellent. :)

cool ,i think i deserved a break after sitting in a room with 3 rigs in bits not working.
i must say im impressed with the freezer 7 pro, only cost £12 plus postage and was so easy to fit without having to take out the motherbord
plus got my mates rig going again.
my xeon workstations dead though :(
think mb is dead so got 2 64bit xeons doing nothing.
cheaper to get a new mb maybe a ASROCK SKT-775 CONROE865PE and
salvage the ram ddr1 400 4 gigs and agp card geforce 6800
the fried board (ncch-dl) costs about £200!!

weres the orthos prime shot showing stability?

Its easy to boot windows with a lower vcore.

running orthos prime is another thing.

How many hours does orthos run?

No offence to you but some of us have better things to do with our time than run Orthos to prove system stability on the internet.

I don't think his Vcore is that amazing considering my E6300 runs 450 x 7 @1.312v CPU-Z (1.3475 as set in the bios) and I ran Orthos for 3 hours before I got bored and wanted to actually use the thing.

You maybe able to boot in to windows with high mhz with an ES and a low vcore but a retail E6600 3.7 @ 1.4v first i've seen....mine will not boot into windows @ 3.7 unless i give it over 1.5v.....and where's your super pi screenie with the 13.5s dead. :D

Well the E6300 seems to need less vcore than a E6600 to reach high mhz due to having less cache....or something along them lines. :)

about 20 hours @ full load

ive had my setup rendering a 3dsmax scene for over 12 hours (and then start
another one) with the cpu @100% load, temps on full load get to about 60.
no crashes as of yet :)
ill get round to doing a orthos prime but it seems pretty stable to me

hi bludgeon i noticed u had same cpu board and memory(DS4,e6600and geil).Could u please tell me your memory settings with the f6 bios?
i recently upgraded from f5 bios and couldnt get the geil ram to run above 533mhz even when i used 2.1v(+3v) 4-4-4-12.which with the same setting i was running 800mhz on the ram with f5 bios.which is the stock setting its rated at.

hi there
i just followed monstermunchs guide, in fact brought my ds4 geil duo because
of it.
i have the same memory settigs 4-4-4-12 and the muliplyer at 2
i could only get to about 2.7 with easytune but clocked with the bios im at
3.725 :)
im new to overclocking and think i just got lucky (touch every bit of wood in sight)

No offence to you but without a run of orthos to test whether your pc can calculate is fundamental to overclocking.

Without this stabilty testing your overclock is worthless.

This has been covered many times before.

There is no reason why a test cannot be perfromed overnight.

Prime can fail after 6hrs nevermind 3.

If this happens it simply means a pc is not doing its job correctly and that the overclock is not sucessful.

I'm not questioning your clock.

But a screenie of orthos running 8hrs would be nice.

ill run it overnight and get back to you with either good or bad news
as i said its stable in max and its rendering about 35% faster then before
and still hasnt crashed but as far as i can tell your saying thats not the issue
all the best and fingers crossed

Nice mate....was that at same vcore?....try running two instances of orthos at same time.... as one could crap out.

ok ill run another test with two overnight
what dose this test tell me?
if i run with a higher fsb (which fail the test) is my setup
less efficient and im more prone to crashes?
