**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

well i got my 2 asus last tuesday but im not fussed realy because knowing me i'll be upgrading to the new gtx600 series at the end of this year

This is true :D

I will be giving my whole pc a revamp later this year and will probably sell the 480 for one of the brand new architechture cards.

Best way to do it. Buying top end GPU's on release is a mugs game :D

Not really when said GPU will last you years.

Buying top end GPU's every generation repeatedly is silly. Buying a good one to last you several generations, super cool.

My 580 will last me for years, if you want any indication, my last card was a 4870^^

my first pixleview 480gtx is a good card very cool with standard cooler but changed it to arctic cooler as i wanted to OC it to 850 1700 and 2000 (was no warentee with the card as bought on ebay for £260 last year) but the asus i had was way to hot for me thats why its on its way back

I just hope the gigabyte card is better with heat for me and also it is pre overclocked so i can just match my one to that and that will do me lol

Please understand im NOT slating the card itself as i love my 480 it is awsome card

i think hes talking more about the cost and the fact that in 12 months or less when the new cards are out the gtx580 can be had for like half the price and yes it will last some years depending on what your using it for, i wish i had stuck with my gtx 295 instead of buying the 5970 which broke twice so i bought 2 gtx 480s for £390

you probably just got a bad card and i understand why your getting the gigabyte. Gigabyte are a great company they make solid products had my x58 ud5 mobo 2 years not a single hitch next mobo will be gigabyte also.

Just got the card and looking at it, it is a very nice card (but) looking at the ram chips they have pads on them (except one or two by the looks of it) is this normal , looking from the sli connector side you can see 3 and a quarter mem chips with pads on them and 1 and half not covered,

This is not bothering me i am just wondering if every one else has the same on there gigabyte soc cards

Did some digging around to find out about the power consumption on these things. Boy do they suck a lot when overclocked. I think my PSU would struggle. I know at stock it would be fine, but would be looking to go at least 850MHz on core if I got one.

Shame really, as the deal on the 480 SE is very good and is tempting. For the price they are great in every department except power draw when overclocked properly. The 3 year warranty is awesome too.

I will guess I will have to wait and see what the 680/780 has to offer next year. Hope there are some good deals when ivy bridge comes out :D

cant really see in those pics
i have it installed and max temp on 2nd run of heaven was 82c ,my pixleview was 65c lol

it is quiet compared to the asus as well

all in all very happy WELL DONE GIGABYTE and thank you overclockers

well pleased with my SOC.... Much quieter than my GTX280 and much faster to boot... :D ( and it fitted without having to remove my central HDD cage.. bonus ).
fan on auto.... idle's at 35'C.... max in Heaven DX11 Benchmark 2.5 loop (30 min loop) 73'C... ( much less than my GTX280 )
pushed it to 870/1740/2000 with ease... ( no voltage adjust )
some of my games showed low GPU usage ( AC2 ), so cranked up the settings ( AC2 now using SSx4 ...wow )...
AC Brotherhood arrives tomorrow.... rock on.

my heaven benchmark score if I use slot 1 & 2 on the p6x58-d board (both 16x) = 64Fps 1615 score and min frames 24.6 and max frames 179.0

My score if i use slot 1 & 3 (slot 1 = 16x slot 3 = 8x) is 66fps 1663 score min fps 30.0 max fps 125.0 (notice better average fps and better minimum fps but less on the max frames

If I use slot 1 & 2 the gigabyte card heat got up to 90c. slot 1 & 3 gets the gigabyte card to 82 max

Mafia 2 plays flawlessly at a locked 60 fps with my 3d vision kit

Batman was locked at 60fps with the kit to

COD Black ops was well over 100fps 2d and a locked 60 with 3d kit

Ive ran a 480 on the same PSU as you, overclocked at 865 and never had any issues, you will be fine running a OC 480 on your rig.
