**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

I will but I'll be charged another 30-40 odd if it passes their tests

and why would it be any different this time when itpassed last time ?

tempted to pay for it to be independantly tested and then take it forward formally somehow

you should tell them what programs it's failing on and tell them to test them aswell, these companies probably sometimes use a program that doesn't tax the gpu enough

not sure if anyone can suggest anything elseto test? I must have spent literally 20 odd hours faffing with this card now

things now tested and checked

(1) reseated (LOTS of times)
(2) new PSU - over-specced and high quality changed - check
(3) reset Mobo to default settings- no overclocks etc
(4) removed soundcard incase some interference
(5) tweakedPCI-E bus settings - nothing

best I can get stable is about 760 or so

they sent me screenshots of completed and in progress

Heaven
Furmark (4 hrs worth !!!)
3dMark 2011

etc - so just don't understand - baffled

onlydifference now is they are testing on aGigabyte mobo (can see it in the photos they sentme)

i shouldn't see how the motherboard would make that big a difference

have you got pics of the artifacting you get at stock speeds and volts?

odd thing is I'vetried a blower fan directlyon it-and still sameproblems

yet GB sent me screenshot of Furmark 4 hrs in - still running - 72C!!!!

seems almost impossible - their labs must be freezing

have you tried a custom fan profile on afterburner?

upping the volts won't stabalise it at stock speeds?

can u not test the card in another machine ? you must know someone with a rig that could test it for you and see what happens

If you were colchester based id say pop here and test it in my rig but your probly miles away ;)

Glad you have no errors. I would worry though about these temps, high enough given you're not with dual monitor setup. Also, I see you've got the SE edition, not the SOC. I guess SOC owners can't compare, but your test is useful for reference, no doubt.

Thanks and enjoy your card!

The temps were in OCCT though you dont really get those types of stresses in gaming.

I would also worry too if it was anything but a 480. Gaming so far has not taken it over 75c so it will be fine.

Has anyone found replacing the TIM or fitting a Zalman to be more beneficial than the existing TIM or 3 Fan cooler ?

varkanoid your card is way to hot i have never even seen the temp go over 85 on mine just done 40 mins of crysis 2 and only seen 76c and its quite warm in the room 23c,

Take a look again the temps were for OCCT not gaming !

Gaming it maxes out at 75c. Try running GPU:OCCT 3 on your rig and see what temps it hits !

Just ran Crysis 2 benchmark for 30 minutes and it reached a max limit of 86c

FWIW, I paid nothing for RMAing my card (send and receive). Sent to my vendor (his expenses), he sent it to Gigabyte, they sent it back to him and finally he sent it to me, again his expenses. These happen in Greece.

I'true - I've already sent it to GB though who tested it to be NFF

I then suspected my PSU - so replaced it - but have the same problem still

GB charge on 2nd test for same fault if they find NFF again :( - which is fair enough really in some respects

Buckster that's just unlucky. Maybe make a video and send it to them? I think you have covered all bases and the card is simply faulty, how Gigabyte found no faults is anyones guess. Is it any more stable with the new PSU if you up the voltage slightly?

My HX 750 should arrive next week so I'll report back whether it sorted the problems out or not.

Ok, just a small report here: replacement card seems to behave. 3 hours of Crysis 2 (1920x1080) all maxxed, no problems so far. Max temp:85c, frames: 60-65 floating. Back to game.

Enjoy!

Maybe theres a fellow ocuker nearby that will let u use their system? Can you test it at all in another system?
