**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

take a look at GB's forums

As farasI can see there have been some issues with someofthe other SOC cards as well (560s etc ?)

I think personally they are just pushing the factory overclock bounds too far (or are not binning/testing thoroughly enough)-but that may be not correct at all -I don't know

Sucks because the SoC used to be really good cards that actually were cherry picked and not only ran stable at the upper end of what was possible with other cards, with lower power usage and better heat transder out the box but also had 10% or so headroom above that for user clocks. Since the 480 onwards the sorting process seems to have gone out the window :(

lots more value brands have entered the market so GB have to stay competetive

I don't want to speak too soon but from having read this thread it does make me realise how lucky I have been. The failure rate seems to be much higher than originally thought, about one in four / five. That's ridiculous if correct.

my personal opinion-considering the issues people have across all brands utilising factory overclocks

all cards SHOULD be individually tested for stability at those settings -if that costs toomuch to implement they shouldn't retail factory OC cards

otherwise its a right faff for end user, retailer etc etc

do we reckon anyofthe manufacturers test all for stability at OC speeds ? I guess not - but who knows?

indeed. I'm still certain it will fail. Hopefully it will only fail after Kepler come out :D

Cleeecooo, Is yours the oc or soc one? Is it stable?

I was thinking of getting the GTX580 OC Special Edition as I like the cooler on these but not to keen on factory overclocked ones after my experience of the 480soc.

LOL win

Pros: Runs Farmville, Warcraft 2 and Blade Runner (yes, they made a game, but Harrison Ford wasn't in it) on MAX settings, without a hiccup. I was going to quad SLI these bad boys, but figured that one meets my gaming needs.

The colors are nice too. Looks great as a belt buckle.

And just a heads up, do not get this card if you are going to try and fit it into a Compaq computer you purchased from Best Buy. Apparently, you need room for a graphic card these days.

Cons: Noticed some stuttering while playing Farmville on Facebook with max settings. I turned shadow effects off and anti assailing down and that fixed the problem.

While the colors are a pro, they are also a con -- they insist upon themselves.

Other Thoughts: Current setup:

Pentium @ 266 mHz
32MB of RAM
20 GB Hardrive
Unknown Mobo
Compaq computer case

So. The replacement card doesn't seem to solve any problems. It's also unstable at the advertised speeds. Have raised a ticket with Gigabyte rather than OcUK this time, since that seems to be what other people here are doing.
