**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

I am really sorry to hear about all the troubles some of you have been having.
Mine has been 100% fine so far.
If you do have issues, i would follow Cleeecooo.... 580 as replacement not to be sniffed at.
Still 100% happy with mine though..... sry

exactly. After so many problems with RMA's, i've found it is often easier to go to the manufacturer.

What harm is it RMA'ing to GB? You lose out on the postage, but nothing more

The manufacturer will have a proper test bench which will be able to read any errors the card generates when running it through specific burn tests, and report any specific errors to the operator. OcUK will have a test bench pc and a probably bored dude watching Heaven and Vantage loops on peoples potentially problematic cards trying to see artifacts.

In other words send it to the manufacturer if feasible.

If you send it to the place of purchase you get a brand new product, not a repair.

My card is getting hot, I don't particularly want them to re-seat the cooler (the most probable issue) and send it back. Yes it's going to keep cool now, but how many/much issues/life shortening has occured due to the temperature getting above 100 all the time?

The correct course of action is to send it back to OCuk, properly packaged, get it tested and get it replaced.

Now it turns out OCuk is not getting the same problems/errors we are and returning them back to us with a nice bill for the pleasure.

In my situation it doesn't help that the guys in OCuk tech support say "yes it sounds at fault", even after they have tested it. But it doesn't error while they have it so it's tough (my words not there's).

I wish I had just got the SE, but £10 seemed like a good premium for the speed. And now I just want what I paid for.

if it's after 28 days, they send it to manufacturer and they then wait for a replacement. With the manufacturer, you might still get a new one. I got a 580 :D

I will give you a clue: Read pages 1-56.

In summery, if your lucky, yes. If your not no.

A 480 SE would be the advisable choice if you want to upgrade. But a 480 is about 10% faster than a 470, but you can overclock an SE to near 580 performance, so you should see something in the region of 15-20% improvement over a 470.

Is it worth the risk (not being able to overclock or getting a SOC with problems) at over £200...probably not.
