**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

Well worth a 580 for FSX. Have mine clocked to 950 on the core and it obliterates the sim compared to my old 280 on the same cpu. Have even been able to ramp my clouds up to 20 layers in ASE!

Randall, you know FSX wont SLI right?

Yea dont want sli for fsx, fsx does not care for gpu power too much i went from. 9800gtx to a 480 and only gained a few fps how how ever going to a 2500k from my c2d was like day and night

While it is mainly CPU dependant, it's not so much as people think. The GPU can still provide a massive boost to performance when coupled with a capable processor. I conducted some tests before and after putting my 580 into my 2600k system which showed an average frame rate increase of 19fps over my gtx280, with all other factors being equal.

Cleeecooo, you've obviously got some kind of problem there then. You don't have the 'bufferpools' active do you? That can cause artefacts with 400 series+ cards. Still with only 8fps there's probably something more serious wrong somewhere.

Result!

So it's been 2 months since I sent my 480 back and I finally got my replacement from Gigabyte today. I was not expecting it today so I was more than happy to find a 580 when I opened the box. Top stuff Gigabyte!

580gtx with standard clocks I assume? It's taken a while, unacceptably too long imo, though I'm glad you got it sorted. :)

It's the SE one with a 795MHz core.

Yeah, 2 months is really long however they initially offered me a 570 but we know that the 480 SOC is superior to it, so understandably I was not too happy. After sending a few emails they then told me that they were facing chipset shortage at their HQ so I would have to wait at least 4 weeks if I wanted a 580. I decided to wait. So after 4 weeks (this Monday) I emailed them asking about the situation and they said they should receive them from their HQ this week and I'll get it early next week. Suprisingly I got it today.

If I had accepted their initial replacement then I would have had it weeks ago (within their 3 week period) but despite the long wait I'm happy with the outcome. I now have all the parts for my new build so I really hope this card runs faultlessly. Would I get a Gigabyte card again? Sure. Would I get a heavily factory overclocked 'SOC' card? Not likely.

Buckster- I hope your card is still running well.

Hey guys, I was just wondering how come a card which was 200-240 around 3 months ago is back to 350-370 while for the same price you can easily get 580 which is faster, cooler and produces less noise than the previous generation?
