Giving up sugar in tea

I also cut down from 2 sugars to 1 sugar and now if I try a cup of coffee with 2 sugars in it, it tastes like syrup and I can't drink it. Strange how you get used to things. I might even try cutting it out completely and would hopefully get used to that in the same way.

I really cannot stand a normal cuppa without sugar, just feels wrong on many levels. As you have already mentioned, green tea is the only type I can go for without sugar as it just such a refreshing drink it doesn't need it.

Personally if it is that important to cut out the sugar in tea I would probably just stick to the green or peppermint variety, maybe try a few of the other ones as well?

You just get used to it, haven't had sugar in tea or coffee for years now. On the other hand, giving up your dirty takeaways for broccoli dips is a different matter, what's wrong with you? Life's too short to skip that junk for that ol' healthy stuff.

Never took me long to get used to it and I don't even recall making it a conscious choice. Tea with sugar tastes wrong nowadays so if somebody at work accidentally puts sugar in mine I can't drink it.

Do it, I'm trying it's kind of fun to push your will power.

Each to their own but that sounds rank :p I love the delicate flavour of Earl Grey and can't imagine sweetening it!

My friend has four sugars and I made him a brew with two sugars he insisted I didn't put any in.

How many cups of tea are you drinking a day?

It takes me months to go through a wee bag of sugar just having one spoon per cup.

I dunno some days one some days four. Those bags are pretty dense though?

But a week is also a long period of time and unless you're sitting on your arse all week, it's not going to do you much harm if any at all.

I have tea a maximum of two times a day, with one teaspoon of sugar, but at the same time I barely have any other sugary foods (certainly no sweets, biscuits or cake). It's all about moderation.

Yeah but it's like one vote won't win an election but cutting it all out in every area will.

This is what we need to be looking at here, I agree.

Vegan? VEGAN? What's up with you, you weirdo!

LOL totally another story, psh carnivores!. :p

I know what you mean but I've been getting serious about gym and changing my diet lifestyle and I feel so much better for it. To answer spit I felt like crap after the Chinese had a huuuge crap lol my body just wasted most of it.

I will still have junk food but very rarely as a treat, life is short so I'm enjoying it healthy.

I cut mine down from 2 sugars to none by cutting firstly down to one sugar, then upping the strength of the tea for a while and then just completely cutting the sugar out. I found I liked my tea more for the strong flavor of the tea rather than the sweetness.

However, if I'm hungover i'll put sugar in my tea/coffee just because it helps.

Yeah totally normal, I think it helped cutting from semi-skimmed milk to skimmed as well. It's like having it black really as there practically not point in even putting the milk in!

But yeah, that bitterness just seems normal and it is very much like beer/lager the way you grow accustomed.

I think tea tastes better without sugar/sweater but I don't really drink it anyway.

I've pretty much ditched anything that is very sweat once I relised it was the cause of my sensitive teeth. I have some fillings and after eating something sugary as hell they go crazy so I just avoid it at all costs. I use to like drinking lime cordial but that's the worst thing of all. I was pretty bad as a kid with sugary stuff so I pay for it now. :(

After cutting it out though I've never had any more problems. The only thing I really drink is Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice (dilutable) because it's the only thing I can drink in large quantities that won't make'em go nuts. Seems boring but I could drink that stuff all day.

I cut down on sugar by putting in a bit extra milk and then dropped that back to normal. Haven't had sugar in my tea for about 5 years which is just as well since I drink 5+ cups each day.

I used to take sugar with tea and coffee. These days I just drink black coffee with no sugar. Sugar went first then a year or so later where I was working didn't have a fridge so milk went... You don't realise how **** most brands of tea or coffee taste until you stop tarting them up :p

I cut out sugar from my coffees a few weeks back, just decided to cut it out as I'm similar in trying to cut out so much rubbish from my diet - have had very little refined sugars in the last fortnight or so.

I found I didnt liked coffee with milk in unless it had sugar, so I change from coffee with milk and sugar to just black coffee. Just experiment a bit until you find what you like.

This morning I had a 'bulletproof' coffee containing filtered coffee, coconut oil and butter. Was quite nice, kept me going until lunchtime.
