Giving up sugar in tea

OP I have the solution!!!

Change your brand of tea

I tried to give up sugar in my tea and couldn't get over the difference in taste. As sson as I changed the brand, the flavour change was so much it made the lack of sugar insignificant but still enjoyable.

After a month you can go back to your regular brand and it will taste great.

PG Tips/Twinings/Tetleys these are good for interchanging

I am completely the opposite. Can't stand sugar in my tea or coffee. But it is true that over time you should be able to get used to it. Perhaps try sweeteners? They aren't ideal and some say just as bad but might be worth a go.

Maybe try half a spoonful then less and less over time?

Agree entirely. But then again I don't have a sweet tooth.

I used to have 2, then 2 1/2, and I realised it was the slippery slope my dad is on (3 or 4), so I took out all the sugar off my tea for a month, and then to 1/2 which now tastes about as sweet as 2 1/2 was tasting before, and which I have found reasonable for almost 10 years now.

This all depends on how many cups/mugs of tea you have a day too (I have 1 or 2 mugs), and how much and what kind of milk you are adding.

4 sugars!! lol wow. I used to have 2 as a teenager/kid. But rapidly progressed to None.

I cant even drink tea with sugar in anymore. I rarely drink it, and id go for a flavorsome one like earl grey anyhow, given the choice.

Coffee i have black very occasionally with sugar, im talking once or twice per 1000 cups, ill have sugar in it. ]

Its like most things once you stop having it or cant have it you soon adapt.

I stopped taking sugar in my tea and coffee just cold turkey about six years ago. You soon get used to it and it just seems normal.

Good luck with being a vegan mate! One thing I would never even contemplate.

i personally use candrel, sweetex or other sweeteners in my hot drinks. Give those a go.

I used to have 2 in my tea, then I cut to one one year for Lent then stuck with it.

The following year I cut to zero and now only have a bit of sugar in a tea if I've been out for a long run :)

Its amazing how many calories you save! (I drink a lot of tea!)

Changing brand is the right way.

I drink (pretty much only drink - I work from home and will take it will me when I go away) Clipper Organic Everyday tea. It's quite sweet and nutty anyway and would be ruined by putting sugar in.

The only problem is that it makes Tetley, PG Tips and even some Twinnings taste like utter **** by comparison.

I gave up sugar in tea some years ago. Took some time getting used to but can actually appreciate a well made brew now as opposed to sugar obliterating any flavour.
