Glastonbury & the BBC.

from the surprise popularity of Kate Bush, it does sound like the organising commitee could pull in some older bands to improve the musical taste of the the genZ demographic,
and such bands would appeal to more bbc viewers.
- apparently beyoncee has a new album where she has rediscovered house music.

( streaming companies don't seem to disclose popularity of artists over a year - what older stuff do people regularly listen to. )

I'm not sure its for anyone to criticise someone's music taste let alone a whole generation. People like what they like...

As for them getting some older bands in...Paul McCartney is literally headlining tomorrow night and there's "older" acts throughout the line up...

I'm the 1971 demographic but I appreciate that not everyones voice has survived the cigarettes, strong alcohol and drugs, even if their bodies have. Some artists should retire gracefully into a fond memory and a strong recording library.

However if they've still got the voice bring it on.

BBC have covered Glastonbury since forever, suddenly the nutters have decided its all a conspiracy? Jeez. Imagine our national broadcaster promoting British music and arguably one of the biggest music events on the calendar.

Glasto are just following the money.

Its mostly just a massive meeting of the druggies and dealers from every corner of the UK.
Only chumps buy their drugs AT the festival.

Pretty awful so far, weakest lineup I can remember on the televised stages. Idles, the only good performance so far,and I'm not a huge fan of theirs.

Its a shame to see Dianna Ross up there. Some people should just let their past tell their story. I dont know if anyone saw it but there was a skit by Adam Buxton on the Beach Boys. It has to be one of the funniest things Ive seen.

Edit: found it.

Sam Fender was excellent. Wolf Alice considering their last 24 hours were very good as well. Oh and Griff and Sigrid from what ive seen were also good.

After she completely murdered all her songs at the jubilee gig she should just give it up for sure.
Im a quite a fan of her work so it is a double disappointment for me.

Saying that though I went to see Kurtis Blow during the very early days of hip hop and it was the funniest/worse thing I have ever seen. he was totally off his face and even tried to do some break dancing **** and spinning on his back.

TBH, I very rarely enjoy 'live music' when I'm not there.

Some of my greatest memories of music are live, but only because of the whole experience. On my own, sober, listening through speakers, give me a polished and produced version most of the time.

Edit: for context, Nirvana's Unplugged is amazing, they did something different to the original versions to make a live version special, and did it for that reason, not to entertain people while on an acoustically compromised stage!

That’s exactly my point. Glasto has increasingly catered towards older people in recent years.
Not the boomers again, :D first we have Sir Lenny Henry claiming that there is not enough Caribbean demographic at festivals and then we have the perennial bloody boomers continuing to dominate the programme. :p

I expect as we kind of invented large open air jazz, blues and rock festivals, we still get to make an appearance. But it is open to all music and it is the being there rather than the bands that matters.

It is devil worship stuff. Not for normal people.
Wasn't so much the music was weird, it was OK to be fair, just the lead singer seemed all over the shop, looked annoyed with her backing singers, didn't plug the guitar in, just looked generally annoyed to be up there.
