Glastonbury & the BBC.

There's a lot of backlash at the BBC right now for delaying the airing for McCartney's set by an hour. It actually started at 9:30PM, but the coverage started at 10:30PM on BBC1 and iplayer. The set was advertised on the BBC as starting at 10:30PM since the Glastonbury iPlayer channel went live, so I didn't really think much of it and thought that was indeed the time that the set was to start.

Pretty crap really, as they've had all other acts live. The excuse the BBC has given doesn't make any sense, especially for the headliner.

‘Due to the complexity of broadcasting an event of this scale and the volume of performances we cover, there is sometimes variation between performances taking place and their transmission.’

since the had been (unusually) broadcasting 4k iplayer from pyramid(like eilish) , so had additional complexity of uhd/hdr->fhd/709 translation & data bandwidth from mobile broadcast,
seems reasonable they might have delayed McCarteney transmission to protect it against glitches, apparently they nonetheless pulled the ip stream at last minute.
(guess they will have more time to setup for commonwealth games)

Was wondering why there was no uhd stream last night, seemed odd not to do it for the headline act.

Enjoyed it though so doesn't really matter.

My only complaint is that there's no footage of the Arcadia or acoustic stage on the Iplayer, I would have loved to watch kurupt fm last night! Generally I think the coverage has been great this year.

Is it just me, or has the sound of the singers been really poor and very low? I’m just watching standard BBC, but many artists I can barely hear the lyrics.

take the audio stream from live radio station (at the same time as live tv) or, later, the iplayer copy of what was streamed on radio station they're better 320kbs,
(eg. http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_6music.m3u8, )
strangely they don't have the radio 2 stream including eilish/mccarteney

... iplayer videos and iplayers sounds individual sets, are inferior.

IIRC there can be conditions on the broadcast of individual acts, I've heard in the past that some performers/their management wanted to review the performance before it aired and the BBC then trying to get an agreement on which songs were ok to show.
Apparently it's not always set in stone before the performance and can be getting sorted out right until the last minute, it's also from what I've heard part of the reason why you sometimes get stuff the BBC recorded at a concert not getting shown for several years.

Although it's also entirely possible that the BBC delayed it for other reasons such as scheduling.

Its mostly just a massive meeting of the druggies and dealers from every corner of the UK.

Jesus Christ. Yeah everyone pays hundreds of pounds and then travels hundreds of miles and queues for hours on end often in the rain and mud, sleeps in a tent for 3 days, and suffers festival toilets - just to pick up...

half of them go there to party on drugs for days on end with like minded people.

i never said any such thing that people went there just simply to buy drugs.

of course you get plenty of straight people there also but it is a fact that it is a Mecca for the drug communities all over the UK.

When do we get to see how environmentally friendly and conscientious these lot are? They apparently listened as silent as the grave to Greta. No doubt the place will be as spick and span as when they arrived, no foil, plastics or other detritus to be seen...No expectation of others to deal with their waste.

So now it's "half of them" before it was "mostly".

You're making progress.
