GOG , Good Old Games - Official Thread

I think the point was already mentioned. They work on new O/S's. If you are still running win 95/98/xp then great, otherwise unlikely to get some games running.

At least that's my take on it. I still think they are expensive, and with my measly 60kb/s connection I won't be downloading any games soon!

With GOG you are not just paying for the game - you are paying for awesome service that goes with it, compatibility, bonuses (soundtracks, making off videos, wallpapers etc) and awesome community. The fact that they work everywhere at any time is of course awesome too.

What happened to all the people that said they were never going to buy on this site again??

Before it all kicked off, PC Gamer sat down with GOG co-founder Marcin Iwinski and Managing Director Guillaume Rambourg to discover the story behind their relaunch, and how they convince publishers to release their games without DRM, how they combat piracy, and their holy mission to improve PC gaming. Warning: this interview contains Poles explaining themselves using slightly awkward metaphors.

In case you somehow haven't yet heard of Planescape: Torment, it's only one of the most famous cRPGs out there. What sets it apart from most other RPGs is that it's extremely story-driven, meaning you can solve most problems through talking, if you wish, and will only rarely be required to get violent. Of course you can opt to bulldoze your way through the story, too. With tons of great dialogue, vivid and memorable characters, superb music and an absolutely enthralling story set in the acclaimed Planescape multiverse, you can expect a gaming experience that you will never forget. Did we mention the script was 5000 pages long? Planescape: Torment is simply the "god tier" of role-playing games and you're a fan of the genre, then it is your duty to play it

I just got my hands on an old copy of PST the other day too. Bah.

I really find it hard to start WRPGs though. They never really give you much in the way of overall plot when you start. I'm still moping around the first town because all the jobs I've got are a bit meh.

Hmm, tempting...especially as the DVD re-release is already as rare as hen's teeth.

Your first companion's a talking, floating skull that distracts enemies by insulting them, what's not to like? :p
