Do remember that the clubs you use at the fitting centre are magically enchanted to work brilliantly but the ones you actually get delivered probably won't have the magic included.

:)

:cry: yes I shall certainly bare that in mind.

My thought process currently for my setup is as follows incl yardages taken from my Shotscope V3.
The Titleist T100s are stronger lofted from my current irons so I'm thinking all playing averages below will increase by approx 10/15 yards per club.
Removing a 5 iron and having a 5 Hybrid should bridge the 6 iron / Hybrid gap nicely.

300 Mini Driver - Playing Average 256 yards

19deg 3 Sim Max 2 Hybrid - Playing Average 242 yards

22deg 4 Sim Max 2 Hybrid - Playing Average 216 yards

*New* 25deg 5 Sim Max 2 Hybrid - No Playing Average but approx 190/200

Current set up irons

Ping i25 6 Iron - Playing Average 176 yards

Ping i25 7 Iron - Playing Average 161 yards

Ping i25 8 Iron - Playing Average 140 yards

Ping i25 9 Iron - Playing Average 132 yards

Ping i25 PW - Playing Average 120 yards

Your lofts need checking! How do you get an 8yd gap from 9 to 8 but then a 21 yd gap from 8 to 7, then 15yd from 7 to 6.

it's taken playing averages based on all shots so not highly accurate with yardages.
Sometimes I use my 8 iron to chip like a putter on the edge of the greens etc. it takes all shots into account.
unfortunately due to age of clubs and also I believe my swing changing as I've got older the delivery of loft has changed

If I took my longest shots it looks like this:
6 Iron - 194 yards
7 Iron - 179 yards
8 Iron - 160 yards
9 Iron - 148 yards

Use P-Average on Shotscope - that takes out the duffs/chips/half shots etc

massive gap between 8 iron and 7.

Played today and it's such a nightmare at this time of year with the sun and the leaves. Every leaf looks like a ball so anything off line is a PITA to find. Used my spare set today to prepare for taking it on holiday this December and it behaved well for the most part. It's like the relegated clubs are trying to impress me by being better than I remember. e.g I hit a relegated Titleist 2-hybrid from 220 yds to 15 feet from the flag and previously have struggled to hit it in a straight line!

Played for the first time in 8 weeks on Saturday, it was...an experience.

Somehow both better and worse than I expected, my swing still feels like a bag of bolts but now my HC is 10 I'm okay to duff a few and for some reason I keep sha*king my pitch shots, that's new and very very annoying!

My p Averages for 2021

Note - driver is only got 7 rounds against it from September onwards....

Driver G425 Max - 269
3w - g425 max - 244
Cobra 19 degree hybrid - 223
4 iron - 193
5 iron - 188
6 iron - 178
7 iron - 165
8 iron - 148
9 iron - 140
pw - 125
52 degree - 95
60 degree - 80

Bottom end of current bag is awful gapping... Hopefully a proper gapping when new irons arrive.

My longest iron is my 5 which I don't use at all. Have no confidence in a long iron so never use it.

I have my fitting with Titleist tonight. Quite looking forward to it. Personally have my heart set on the T100s Irons 6 - W and then replacing the 5 iron with a 5 hybrid to match my Sim Max 2 Hybrids. Then when the new Vokey wedges come out I will look at replacing my Ping Grind wedges.

I'm hoping then I will be happy with my new setup which will last me for another 6 / 7 years like my Ping i25s have.

Sound like a fun night - Try NOT to go with any preconceived ideas of what you want - go with open mind. I think 5 iron is a must, below that is up for whatever works.

Really like the look of the T22 Mizuno wedges but telling myself to wait till March/April for SM9's coming out and then test them both....

I'm more convinced than ever that all this changing around of clubs has little real benefit. I've put new irons, new FW3, new HY5 and a new 60* Vokey and it's made naff all difference. But using the info from the Trackman session that sold me all this new shiny shiny, has made a huge difference to my ball-striking.

In my case, the Trackman data showed that with my swing I've been hitting my irons low toe. The new irons are more forgiving of that off-centre strike, but focussing on a spot one ball ahead of the club and a little further away from me i.e.

*O

where O is the ball and * is where I'm focussing,

has made a huge difference in the strike and consistency that has nothing to do with the new irons. So in your fitting, make sure you get to use your own irons and take careful note of your strike point.

So just got back and must say the two guys from Titleist were great.

From the start they talked me through which ball I played and my reasons for choosing that ball. From there I took my Bridgestone XS and used these in conjunction with a Pro V1. as a comparison. Very little difference although when using a ProV1x the spin jumped massively. So for the Titleist guys they were happy I was a Bridgestone or ProV1 player.

Next they spoke about what it is I'm looking for. Looks, feel, tighter dispersion etc then I hit some balls with my Pings to warm up.
once warmed up they used Trackman and GC-Quad for data.
Interestingly as I've gotten older my swing has obviously change and now my 2deg upright lie from my ping is completely wrong. This was shown on a strike mat too.
With a 7iron (on trackman) my swing speed was 88mph, ball speed 104mph and average carry 155. Interestingly my spin was averaging 8000rpm. very high for a 7iron. Dispersion front to back was 18 yards.

So onto the irons. T100s. Standard shaft. Standard length. Ball speed jumped to 108mph. Average Carry 161yards. spin 7400.
He then changed the club shaft to an AMT Tour White, ½ inch shorter, standard lie. Ball speed increased to average 112, carry 171 and spin down at 6800. Dispersion front to back was 5 yards. Even with the miss hit shots they still went the distance.
We then tried the same with a T200 head and the numbers came out similar to the standard T100s.
So fitted me or T100s, True Temper AMT Tour White Stiff, ½ Shorter, standard lie and grip, 6iron through to GW.

We then tried a 5 Hybrid. The one they gave me was too hot and my ball speed was silly high. It was giving me similar numbers to my 4 hybrid.
So he tried a T200 5 iron with same shaft specs as the T100s and the numbers were perfect. Ball speed 121, carry 201.

Awaiting prices tomorrow but all in all a great session and extremely informative.

They also showed why I was pulling my shots sometimes due to my Ping lie angles etc. Again made perfect sense and very informative.

nice one - I'm such a geek for all this golf stuff... Sounds a great fitting.

I have to say I've never had a fitting like it. Really in depth and even down to which ball I use. I know they're a golf ball manufacturer as well but by testing the Bridgestone XS v ProV1 and ProV1x with my swing showed which ball is best for me. There was only 100rpm between my Bridgestone and ProV1. The ProV1X was up by almost 800rpm with my 7iron.

Still waiting on my prices but I think I'll treat myself to the T100s

Just to add, the Titleist guys said they look for 5mph of ball speed between each club for perfect gapping.
So for me hitting 112mph for my 7iron they wanted at least 120mph for my 5iron. which I got 121mph with the T200.
interestingly my 4 hybrid was at 127mph. so gapping wise I'm pretty spot on with this setup

18 holes today - lovely morning.

Working on my swing changes and really pleased with the ball striking today. A couple of snap hooks, which I'm fine with, due to the changes I'm making. Feel much better with my ball striking, no wild slices etc.... Another lesson this week but overall, feels weird but seems to be working.

Overall gross 77 from the yellows for 35 point stableford. Our club just does a winter stableford, whatever greens are on that day, you play. Best 4 rounds over Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb count. keeps people playing.

Notice someone shot 44 points!!! That's some score!

Randomly popped up advert on my facebook. Titleist ball fitting event at my local Affordable Golf store on the 26th Nov.... Free. Booked in. Why not!

it's worth it. I was surprised at the difference between ProV1 and Pro 1x.
They said I was a ProV1 ball as the numbers it was providing was perfect. just a shame they're £45 per dozen

I played yesterday morning. Difficult conditions lately with all the leaves around. Difficulty in finding balls even if they landed on the fairway.

I've never had a lesson. But I'm looking at getting some to improve my iron strike and like yourself my hook.

Honestly - I've never bothered with lessons, think I had a few a teenager etc but now mid 40's! But was frustrated with just all round lack of a "repeatable swing/miss" - I semi solved by own slice over the years (use to be AWFUL - 100 yards right etc) but just not consistent enough.

Been really impressed with a couple of basic changes, grip and take away, which both still feel strange but I can see the benefits already. WAY more consistency in the strike and certainly not as many wild shots....£40 for 45 minutes with full trackman data. 6 lessons for the price of 5. So had 2, another one this week and probably then Feb for the next one. Leaves another 2 for the start of the season time to work on short game or any other specifics needed.

But so far - very happy with the progress and I'm really going to try and get to the range at least once a week and even 12 holes at the weekend etc.

Totally agree, coaching is 100% the way to improve your game.
I'm completely new to the sport and loving it. I've had 4 lessons so far and it's changed my game immensely from the aimless smashing I was doing at the range, to proper drills. I played Celtic Manor Roman Roads yesterday and 17 of my 18 drives from the tee were straight and over 200 yards. Before my last lesson, I was slicing it every single time, not one in the whole game yesterday.
I really do need to fix my irons game a bit though, my shots from a downhill lie is terrible, well, from any non flat-surface type lie is a terrible, scuffing the ground around 50% of the time. I'll bring that up in my next lesson.
Loving it so far. Bit achy today though :p
