Anyone looking for balls - There a few cracking facebook groups that I use.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/870495540351494 (this one is unreal)

I'm a pro v / AVX guy for summer time but generally maybe only loose 1 ball a round/2 at most. I bought from the second link last year and his quality is unreal. Can barely tell the difference between new and his mint condition balls.

Winter AD333 is a super solid ball to use that doesn't cost the earth. Highly recommend. Guy who runs the second group usually does £28 for 30 delivered AD333.... great value at less than £1 a ball and excellent condition.
The guy in the first link stays about ten minutes away from me and cannot fault him in the slightest, cracking guy as well. Bought AD333's a while back and they were basically brand new.

Can anyone recommend me a Apple Watch app for yardage monitoring..preferably cheaper..but good and accurate.

Not sure if my local club (very small) will be supported but can always check.

Some some searching, and Hole 19 seems to be a good app.

Gonna try it out I think soon, and mabye go premium if its any good.

Only thing is, on the iPhone App its £9.99 p/m and through the website for my account its £6.99 p/m :(

Snow covering the course today at Carrick Loch Lomond - no golf for us. However, they've been excellent with communication and agreed we can return anytime we want up to the end of April on a date that suits us.

The joys of being down south, pretty good day today, bit windy but warm.

Out for a round at the usual course, after doing 9 yesterday. On Friday things just seemed to work but yesterday wasn't great and again today just so many frustrating tops and heavy irons and meh, also some decidedly mediocre putting (with some stunning good putts too)... Scored 109, not really bad for me but felt like it was a terrible round really :p

Random question from todays round thinking about it...

So I had a poor drive, the usual for me left the face open and it was going right, but the wind was also from left to right and pretty strong. So given that the fade/slice on the ball is due to sidespin does the wind going left to right have any further affect, as in lets say the wind pushed it 10 yards, if it was a straight shot with little/'no' sidespin would it still push it 10 yards or would it push it less? If that makes sense...

I could be wrong but I would imagine less pushing..

Another hole in one on the 17th. Alex Smalley. One bounce and straight in.

Watching it again it went into the hole that quick it could have gone in the water if it didn't find the hole.

Astonishing bounce really. As you said he'd have almost certainly had to take a drop if it hadn't have found the hole.

yeah they make a massive difference. Crazy really.
Even small scuffs on a golf ball changes the dynamics massively
I just googled this and found this:

Very interesting how much difference it makes, not something I've looked into before! I sure will be cleaning my balls more regularly after this..

That makes me feel a bit better about losing balls so often :p

My golf group have just booked a tee for Celtic Manor, been talking about it for a while, cheap(ish) prices still with 'winter' so finally got around to it. This Sunday on the Montgomerie course, looking forward to it :)

Just back from my first hit with the new sticks..I only hit 8-9 iron with 100 balls, really trying to get to grips, (i do realize they take a few sessions to get the feel of), with them.

When my swing was on point, even with range balls they had a nice flight and felt phenomenal! I used "TrackMan" at the range for the first time and man  my yardages feel away, they were consistent in length but im hoping that range balls are that bad, and better ones when im on course will reward me better, i mean I know its not all about length but the Pro V1s at AG were giving me what? about 10-12 yards more!

I also booked a 60 minute lesson for Thursday. Its a great setup they have there, (apart from the pricing :p). Just so I know where im going wrong, as its about 50/50 atm when I stripe the balls, or my bad one used to be a slice, but now I tend to snap-hook on it.

it's a long long round otherwise. Beautiful course though

Hopefully! Forecast earlier was for it to be dry and 8-10c ish, really would rather not play in the rain but it's booked now... :p

I have heard the buggy suggestion before, but at the same time then you're restricted to the paths and that sucks :p

We regularly walk 18 holes with trolleys nowadays (I've got a pull trolley, the rest have splashed out on fancy electric ones), it's gonna be longer but reckon it'll be doable... Saying that I'm giving serious thought to skipping Friday/Saturday games, last week on Friday I did 18 holes at Tall Pines, Saturday 9 holes at Whitley and then Sunday 18 at Woodlands, was pretty knackered after Sunday but nothing too bad, without Friday/Saturday maybe just Celtic Manor might not be so bad?

In other news I'm addicted to spending money it seems, now kinda thinking of getting a 5 wood, or maybe a 4 wood, probably gonna look at the same Mavrik range as the driver as I do like that Orange and it'd be nice to match :p Not sure if it's a terrible idea or not though, currently only got an old 3 Hybrid between Driver and 6 Iron. Been researching all day and it seems like a 3 Hybrid and 5 Wood, hit well wil have similar distance but different flights, kinda why I'm thinking 4 wood potentially, but also I could be tempted by a 4 or even 5 hybrid ditching my 3 as I'm not a huge fan anyway but be nice to have something between the wood and the irons.

Am I crazy to even consider it, it's not gonna fix much but I want the shiny? :p

a pull trolly will kill you round monty. Even with buggies it's over 5 hours. The walk between holes is a killer.

It is my favourite of the three courses though. Shot 34 points last time I played playing off 11
