Has anyone else watched the Good Good Championship?
Very good watch for 5 hours of golf. Up and coming pro golfers, amazing skills, great ball striking, well presented. $100k purse up for grabs!

Used to watch them a lot but sort of fell out of touch since Micah and Grant left.

I started but 5 hours is just too long for me :p I like what they're doing with it though.

It's worth putting on in the background and keeping an eye on it, some of the golfers they have are insane. Will probably be seeing 1 or 2 of these on the PGA Tour at some point!

Micah was always a bit weird, I don't watch his solo stuff, but Grant has a good attitude and I was sad when he left too. His solo work is OK, but don't really enjoy it that much without the others around him. :(

Aye, but they where undoubtedly two of the best. I've no doubt that both of them will likely turn pro in a few years.

I'm not sure they'll go pro, Micah has the driver distance but that's about it, Grant's swing is lovely but again... You see them playing against Wesley Bryan who is a pro and he's just better...

Got back from my Iron fitting, with new irons! :D

So tried a bunch of clubs, including the three I put above (Wilson Dynapower, Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal and Srixon ZX-4), those three tbh were the best of the bunch so go me :p

Saying that I felt there were 2 camps there, the Wilsons were great numbers wise, especially distance, but looks and feel did go to the Mizuno and Srixon, with the Srixon edging it really. So ended up between those two really.

Turns out I'm very standard, so shaft length and lie angle both standard in both clubs (did the board thing, feels so wrong :p), and realistically it ended up down to cost/impulse. The Wilsons they had off the shelf (well grips, which I'll get to) whilst the Srixons had to be ordered in (so impulse!) and the Srixons were ~£250 more, just under 50% more.

Kinda torn as the Srixons looked much nicer, the good strikes weren't a million miles behind the Wilsons, but felt the Wilsons were maybe a touch more forgiving, but also maybe the Srixons would 'last longer' as I improve.

Basically ended up going Wilson, cause cheap :D

With the grips I tried a few and honestly couldn't tell the difference, but I'm vain and like orange so Golf Pride do an MCC+4 in Orange so gone for that. The Wilson custom fit wouldn't include/'do' those grips so I had to get those seperately, hence getting the clubs today and the grips are ordered in to be fitted 'soon'.

Now gonna head out (after switching over the CT10's) and play a round of golf with Irons I have no idea how far they'll go. This is gonna be fine.

they are cheaper but hey, I stand by W/S. They make great clubs, just the marketing and all that shizzle that make the Wilson products seem..? I dunno, almost "2nd class".

let us know how you get on, and welcome too the club! :D

Played a few holes with them at the weekend. They felt fine to me as a high handicapper. For close to 1/3 the price per ball that I'd paid previously I certainly wasn't complaining, especially when I hit two in a row into the drink!
Ta. Ordered. Works out at 68p per ball I think. Shame you have to pay £4.99 delivery now even to sports direct store. Swear that used to be free. Anyway still good. I see they do yellow and also orange ones. Was tempted to get some to differentiate but it seems very unfashionable to play with non white balls? I barely see anyone with non whites. Do coloured balls just scream noob or something? :)
What will happen now is I'll tee up with one of these new cheaper balls and it will stay with me round an entire round and just will refuse to get lost. :) I'll still be **** mind.

well, couldn't get on course this morning, senior medal :(

looks like it will need to be afternoons for me when events aren't on. will be checking website regularly to see (should have done this in the first place).

so as a substitute, I went into my net. I was curious to see now my "net balls" (Bridgestone TreoSoft) compared to the Rapsodo official balls, considering they are Callaway Chromesoft X balls.

as it turned out if anything, I was hitting the TS a little further!

and I put some dots on this bad boy today (Pro-V 1) to see how distance and control go. Im letting the stickers stick before I hit them too soon, so probably tomorrow.

Initial reaction from me....

Phil/Bryson/Cam/Brooks must be laughing so hard right now.... $100/150/200 million in their banks and now a route back to the PGA tour next year.

Mcilroy/Spieth etc - super pee'd off they didn't take the cash offered - go for a year and then come back. Also the stance they took against LIV (which the PGA tour pushed them to do) - now looks ridiculous.

Risk takers have paid off big time here.

Outside of that - How do a lot of the press/media companies who slated the whole Saudi regime/sportswashing/LIV backtrack from that stance now that the PIF are effectively the only investment/money getting pumped into this. And The Board of Directors of the new commercial entity will include Al-Rumayyan as Chairman and Monahan as Chief Executive Officer....

PIF is to become the main corporate sponsor of the "newly formed" PGA tour!

Lot of players on twitter very very upset already that they knew nothing about this and are literally finding out on Twitter about the news.

Golf fans will "probably" win out of this - team golf aspect etc - but for now - I think this is going to be really really tough for the PGA boys that stayed put. They WON'T be happy.

Literally no one knew about this - completely out the blue, media/players heard nothing.

If we get a proper "World" tour - great, some team golf, great..... but it has to be done right.

My new irons arrived yesterday and everything has just taken a step backwards. I expected it to take a while to truely get used to them, went back down the range this morning and managed to find my PW and 9i swing, just gonna take the rest of the week to head down the range to practice with them. I know I've got it in me as when I was testing them I was hitting the 7i around 145

For those of you who have switched clubs how long did you find it takes to get used to them?

Can take a while - were you fitted for them?

Shaft weight/stiffness/head size etc can all be something that needs time.

I was almost instantly but my new clubs actually fitted me - they are an inch longer with stiff shafts so made an overnight difference compared to the ones I had that were standard length and regular shafts.

Wonder if the Ryder Cup teams will be able to have the best in the world again now, would be nice!

Great for the game, all the pros are just annoyed they didn't grab the $$$ bag when it was dangling in front of them. Jay and the PGA will do whatever is best for the brand, not for the players.

You'll probably find that the 20-odd senior PGA guys who pledged allegiance and negotiated the elevated events (Rors, JT, Spieth et.al) will either be very quiet about this (i.e. received a nice cash bonus along with the execs) or will be morally outraged and form their own breakaway tour! :)

I'm sure they'll be able to placate them with some large bundles of Saudi cash.

The whole Saudi sports washing angle never sat well with me, I understand the argument but when 70%+ of the PGAs sponsors operated in Saudi made a mockery of that. Why was it morally wrong for some but not others?

Heh, Team Wilson! :p

Back from the first round, not looked over the stats yet but off the tee it's great, did pull a few left early on. Left is not my miss at all, very weird :p Loving the 5i off the tee, hit one around 175 yards, admittedly the ball is running for days at the moment. Did struggle a bit off the deck though, hit a nice 6i off the deck at the end though, most of them were just 'fat' shots that turned into thins as the club bounced, not unknown for me recently but maybe some tweaking to be done.

Hardest bit was not knowing what club to hit! Both full shots towards the green and also half-shots/chips where I'd usually use my old PW.

I'll let you know  As above though, off the tee it was pretty much fine but was a bit weird directionally, but it's off the ground that I need to work on.

It's a bit different between a sponsor operating and Saudi and the Saudi Government themselves which effectively PIF is.

Not sure what to think tbh, didn't expect it, not sure I 'like' it personally... But hey, I'm just one fan so nobody cares, nor should they :p

Also probably doesn't help I haven't played in a while as I got my upper arm tattooed and it was a bit too tender to be swinging a club around
