I've been watching the open (still am right now) and its giving me a nervous twitch I WANT TO GO PLAY ARGH!

But its raining really heavily....driving range me thinks!

Just got back from the range, after how well i did i should be playing the open

I made sure i didn't stop my left knee from 'dipping' on my back swing, and just did it nice slow and controlled....PHWOAR what a difference. I was even brave enough to use my 3hybrid :D

Still not brave enough to use woods yet :p

Im too scared to use it...argh :p

I can't belive tiger didn't make the cut, he just didn't play as well as i expected.
Tom watson is doing well, he uses the same clubs as me :D

Booked another lesson for next week. Half an hour for £16 with a pro. Seem average?

This will be my 3rd lesson. The others really helped so i need this!

I had another lesson tonight with the head PGA pro at a local course. Really enjoyed it, he said i have perfect posture. The main reason i was not consistant with my shots was due to my grip not being right. He showed me the correct grip - it wasn't that different from what i had but the difference did make it feel weird, we also worked on swing etc, i have another lesson in about 2 weeks to work on other things!

Yeh they are pro, it cost me £18 for the head pro or £16 with a normal pro. I prefer the first.

Its 30minutes long (however he does tend to get excited and go over a little bit)

My main problem now is that since i changed my grip when on my downswing my hands seem to rotate back to the previous position turning the club face and i just slice the ball miles right :(...need to stop this!

One of the 'exercises' he did with me was pouring water on the grass mat and having me swing - with no ball there - and hit the water so i hit the water enough that it sprays out infront of me. It was quite clever actually.

He wont care about shoes, you could turn up without any clubs and still be ok lol.

Gold pros i.e woods/tom watson etc still have lessons, its like in football the pro's still have coaching lessons.

I hate this bloody game :(

Ever since i had my lesson last wednesday and changed my grip (so my right hand moves round the club more) i can't stop slicing.

EVERY SINGLE shot slices right, i have tried to correct it but i cant :(

I have a lesson on saturday but i'm playing tonight and don't want to keep slicing as it gets me angry and i don't enjoy it.

The coach said my hands on the downswing keep going back to the previous position and i just need to get used to the new grip, i try....i cant :(

I had this exact same problem, my grip was "too strong" and my right hand was under the club more than over the top. He made me change it and bring it more over the top to a "weak grip" and forever more i was slicing much like you seem to be. I found when practising/playing i was over compensating and gripping far to much over the top (to the left), so switched to somewhere in the middle of the stong and weak grips to go to a neutral/weak grip.

Stick with it, it will eventually help you out much more and you'll start to get a feel for what your doing in the comming weeks and can ever so slightly tweek it yourself for better results

Yup this is what i have, my right hand is now over the top of club like you say, but when i swing even though it stays the same place on the grip it reverts back to being 'under' the club so my club face is facing outwards

Got a lesson tomorrow to try and sort out my slicing and swing.

I hope it works because its really getting to me now, im at the stage where i finish work at 12 today - one of my friends wants to play at 2.... and im just abit 'meh' :( :( :(

Go anyway and leave all the long clubs at home and just use your 6i upwards get some chiping and putting practice in!

I think im going to go, i have a hangover at the moment and it might help.

Even in chipping it goes slightly right lol. When 'chipping' on with a 7iron etc, with a slightly open stance, should you hold the club lower down the grip for more control? If just off the green i use the 7iron like a putter but hold the club down the handle. Is this right?

Yep, but you should only go towards a 7 iron when you are slightly farther away from the green, as it will have a lower flight and roll a lot. PW will travel higher and roll less.

When should i use a PW/7i

I've been using a 7i when about 5/6ft from the green.

Oh and about the PW rolling less....PFT yea right, maby it will for me one day:p

Guys i did something bad yesterday - I threw my club :o.....sorry :(

I was slicing so bad it got annoying and i just saw red and went RAWR!!! and off it went :(

Got a golf lesson at 1pm today so i hope to god the guy can help me out :(
