@Andrew
How did your lesson go yesterday, any joy on combating the slice ?

I'm a former serial slicer so i know how it feels :(

Talking of throwing clubs, i lean't my brother one of my clubs to try a while back, he hit a massive slice, threw it at his bag and it snapped in half !!!

Not happy....lol

It went well mate, he explained to me why its happening and then we worked on fixing it. I no longer dip down my left shoulder and i swing with a much 'wider' arc and with my arms away from my chest instead of touching my chest.

I still slice 'slightly' it doesn't go perfectly straight yet - he said all i need to work on atm is rolling my hands over when i come down - if you get me.

edit: sod it, its raining but im going to go round the course by myself :p

Yeh thats the word i forgot the 'release'

Gah i went to play today - did one hole then left :o

Grated it did start to rain but still i should have stuck it out and kept playing, i think i need some more time at the range first as on the course if i do a bad shot i get stressed out however at the range i know why i did that kind of shot so i get to correct it next time. A couple of times at the range then going to go round with some friends later in the week i think.

Gah golfs a hard game

*Cracks open beer* :p

Does it annoy any of you guys when people say 'what a geek why would you play golf its a rubbish game' 'its well easy why not play something hard like football'

I nearly lamped the guy that said the last comment what a git :p

Then when you take them on the course, they realise that its all about control and all those wayward shots that they thought they were amazing for, were actually landing 2 fairways over or in the trees.

wow you managed to get them on the course, they always make up and a reason not to go on the course when i try :p

Grated with my slicing issue at the moment they would proberly beat me

Anyone that has had lessons any tips for slicing, i must have tried pretty much everything and still cant completely get rid of it!

Have a few lessons mate, slicing is horrible and this is pretty much the only way to get rid of it as the pro can explain to you why it is happening, its different for each person. I.e i slice atm but i will proberly swing different to you so my advice would be pointless.

Went to the range today for the first in around 4 weeks since i kept slicing it right about 45degree's each shot!

Well, it wasn't brilliant, it was quite bad. I KNOW i have to roll my hands over, but its just soo hard to get used to!

I'm ment to be playing on friday as well!

Went to the range again tonight.

Hit 40 balls, 10 went straight, 30 went miles MILES right (not a hook, just right from the hit) its because im not rolling my hands over. Need to get used to that, it feels weird to roll my hands over during the swing.

Have serious problems with slicing quite badly. I'm playing this friday and i need to sort it out. Any ideas? (Apart from have a lesson as i've done that and it seemed to make it worse :p)

Played 18 holes today, wow it was a hard course.

Tee shots - Always going right
Iron play - Always going right
Short game - Saved my bacon!

Played match play (granted i lost by 4) but it was dam close until the last 4 holes lol!

My short game, from around 40yards to the pin was brilliant. Three chips, each around 20-25 yards from the hole actual decided to rim the pin and spin around it, i was gutted !

Whereabouts did you play Andrew, seems as though you're progressing quite well :)

Played here mate

Im not bud, im getting worse lol ever since i had lessons to fix my slice its got worse. I know my faults, it's just trying to work on them!

Short game even though ive had no lessons on it seems to be getting better.

edit: Just so you know the game yesterday seemed to give me mind sunstroke, i didn't wear a hat and only had a small amount of water. Felt sick and had a terrible heache since, guys...wear a hat and drink water!

Had my first round today in about 2 years and really enjoyed it.

I had about 3 pars which I was chuffed with, I also had some complete nightmare holes but it didn't bother me because I was outside in the sunshine :D!

I've been bitten by the golf bug again :D. I may have lost about 10 balls today
