nipped out this morning and played a handful of holes, hit a decent drive in the end. i just don't get why i keep falling into a out to in club path after getting it right for a bit. Has anyone tried the TRS slider and found that helps?

I have always struggled with an over the top swing, and it has always come from two things. Swinging to hard and turning the left shoulder/hips to fast...

Quite hard to explain but the harder I swing the more I want to turn with the driver, but doing that make your left shoulder goes left and club extend out to the right, coming over the top..

The master explains it better. Rory says if he's trying to smash it, he feels like he right hip points the ball, my feel for this is my back being turned longer facing away from the fairway...
It creates a inside path because you swing under (tuck the right elbow a little) and swing up and out...

Return home leg of quarter final last night. A respectable 3-3 draw but obviously after loosing 6-0 away - that's us out.

I won my game 3&2 - some good golf and with the greens have come on loads with some rain - putting is superb for me.

Also never seen this before..... My mate who was playing off 17.7, shot 81 gross yesterday with a course handicap of 18. 46 point stableford.

He got cut 1.5 but also had a 2 shot Exceptional Score Reduction (ESR) added.... So he's come down overnight to 14.2. That ESR stays for the next 20 rounds!!

I had that. Shot two over from 12.*hc.. Took two shots off of all 8 of my best rounds. Basically dropped 4pts off my handicap over night. Was brutal. That said after that day I kind of managed to play to about a 9 for the rest of that summer. It was the rollout from brick grounds that helped.

The firing the hips could work, i'll give that a go.

I played a medal today and NR'd on the 7th, thought i had hit my pitch shot long into the green (its a blind green) but had just hit 9 on a par 4 so was ready to walk, first use of the driver for the day and i hit it well into the rough on the right fairway, hit my next drive down the middle then proceeded to hit it right into the rough by which point the round was quickly getting to me. I could have played another ball but thought i may as well NR and to be fair it made the rest of the round ok.

Iron play was hit and miss, when i took my time dropping the hands rather than coming steep i made decent contact. Putting was either awful or good, nothing in the middle. Only got my first par on the last hole. Slightly disheartening as i havent strung two rounds together in a row for what feels like an age. I just need to keep at it and i'm sure in time what i'm learning in lessons will start to click onthe course

First round in about a month this morning and just had a casual knock with a couple of the guys as our greens have had maintenance work over the last couple days

Despite the fact I haven't swung a club in almost a month, I managed a 77 with 2 double bogeys on the card

Early round swing was a bit rough but I managed to play through it and managed a couple birdies

Hopefully that swing will turn up tomorrow as I am playing in a mixed open tomorrow

Not sure it's how the pro's do it - Grand plans for a couple of beers yesterday at our local music festival.....Ended up being about 8 hours drinking...... Not feeling great this morning but hoping I should be better for my handicap club championship semi final later this afternoon

A decent-ish 81 yesterday with a triple bogie at 6th. Solid ball striking

Medal comp today and shot 84 gross for net level (off 12) with a quad on the eleventh! One of those what could have been today.

Got off to a great start with a birdie at the first and was one over through five despite the worst three putt you've ever seen from 15ft on four. Then put it in the water at the par 3 sixth to make double. Great tee shot on seven left me in range for my second. A slightly scruffy 6i but just on the fringe right. Cue missing a 2ft putt for par after lagging one up to the hole.

Great scramble on tenth to make par after a poor tee shot. Hit a good drive on eleven into wind but then hit an atrocious second shot into the trees down the left. One of those you don't want to find as my provisional was just through the green. Unfortunately it was found and I had no shot. Even taking relief for a shot I still couldn't do anymore than poke it back out onto the fairway. A poor approach, three putt and the damage was done. Run of pars after that before missing from 5ft on sixteen for bogey. Then inexplicably making bogey after leaving myself 70 yards in on seventeen after a good drive. Good par at the last to finish off.

Good news is the hot start should get a couple of shots off my summer electic and the scoring differential will be around 10.6, which means my handicap will drop into the 11.x range tomorrow :)

Played with my eldest today, after playing **** yesterday in a comp (another nr) I wasn't expecting out and to be honest nothing went right for the most part. First t shot just diagnol right ob. I've got my handicap down to 19 with the course being 18 through playing alright but today I was 28 over through the front 9 with a couple of quads, just loosing it off the t, awful putting and chipping. I mean one of the holes I was down the steep banking next to green and hit it up and then over to the other side of the banking, proceeded to the do same going back. Talk about thinking of just giving up.
All my t shots were crap even with an iron.
Comes to 10th and smoke a drive right down the middle, 0 idea what I changed but hit a couple of the best drives I've hit. Iron play was decent from then too apart from a overhit lost ball on the last. Finished 34 over par which playing of 18 is shockingly **** but 6 on the last 9 I was actually really chuffed.

I'm heading to Edinburgh mon- Friday so going to head into golf clubs for cash, likely look at grabbing either a regular shaft for my driver or look at picking up a Titleist gt2 as they've started to drop a little. I'll get it in the shaft I got fitted into my Callaway before I broke it (tensei 1k blue)

Well today was embarrassing and like I had never swung a club before

Started with a couple pars but it went downhill fast after that and never got any better

2 lost balls and way too many doubles - I think the last week caught up with me and the heat didn't help as I was exhausted

Bosh - job done - into the Club Championship handicap final with a 5&4 win tonight.

Played solid golf, getting one shot - younger guy was long but a bit wild off the tee. Nice solid stretch from 6-10 set me up.. Parred 6, birdied 7, then pars at 8/9/10 put me 4 up.

He won 11, we halfed 12 in pars, but then I had my only shot at 13 and he lost another ball off the tee so pretty much gifted me the hole. Then an excellent 5 iron to 15ft at the 14th sealed the match for me.

4 weeks today for the final. Weirdly the other handicap semi also finished 5&4 along with BOTH the scratch games!!

Looks like I'll be giving away 11/12 shots in the final mind you..... Been in the final once and lost so hoping to change that this time.

Came into the knockouts as the 16th seed!

I play GT2 with 55g stiff tensei blue shaft. Not the longest but very forgiving.

Hopefully find it the same, either get the driver or 5 wood see what I fancy.

Played a haven golf course today, not the worst condition to be fair. Some of the holes being a little over 200 yards was a challenge with a 7 iron being the longest club I took

Hit a load of thin shots, just can't figure out golf at the moment. Just need the most basic swing thoughts in my head and nothing else.

After the embarrassment of Sunday, I managed to grab a lesson spot last night to try and sort things out

Swing was actually okay but it was face control that was the issue for irons, so a couple tweaks soon got that sorted

Driver had a very left path, but again, a couple changes to setup got me back on track and had me then hitting everything either straight or a very slight fade that I normally hit

Playing 9 on Saturday afternoon, so hopefully that will see better results

Picked up a Titleist gt2 5 wood today from golf clubs for cash.
Was going to grab driver but I'll get that once some bills etc have gone out. Did have a look at them so from a looks point of view it's spot on.
Also grabbed some more green and pink tees, a belt and yet another cap

^ Been watching since I got back from golf this morning, minus a post lunch doze :p Enjoy women's golf, seems a little more attainable to a hack like myself.

For a change I'm not winging about golf, been struggling with tennis elbow but it seems to be easing off so tried hitting some foam balls in the garden and just getting back to letting the club do the work rather than forcing out and it seems ok. Went out this morning, 8 over par through 9 with a triple on one hole (couldn't find the ball despite seeing it land ok), happy with that, iron play was decent and I'm getting a bit more confident with wedges around the green rather than always trying to putt a long way.
Best shot of the day was a hybrid about 210 yards with a decent flight on the par 5. Going to try the new Titleist gts range in a couple of weeks, mostly just to see if I'm more suited for the 1/2/3 models before getting one of gc4c
