Good news for Scotland (and the rest of us)..

I cannot stand Krankie, but I still find the furore and tone around her departure as toxic and a cesspit of vitriol.
Who would want to be a politician these days with the utter dregs and bottom feeders who frequent twitter and reddit.
The number ONE rule in life MUST be to IGNORE THESE MEDIA PLATFORMS AT ALL COSTS.
Personally the trans stuff is a red herring, I think she went because of the financial "anomalies" which the Police are now investigating with respect to the SNP finances!

There are rumours (and there have always been rumours) that her personal life is in a bit of a turmoil and that she’s getting out before the press publish all the details.

The lesbianism stories have been around forever.
regardless of how you feel about her competence at her job, or her political stance......... really who she shares a bed with should have absolutely no bearing on whether she should have her job or not..

I suppose there is a small edge case to that, IF hypothetically she was publicly massively anti gay rights and she did turn out to be gay, or she was trumpeting family values and the importance of family stability whilst shacking up with half a dozen different people then that would make a difference....... but that would be because of being a giant hyprocrite - and i hate double standards no matter what those standards are about - rather than the actual subject of her sexual exploits. (and AFAIK this isnt the case with Sturgeon).

Bojo is renowned for being a womanisng turd of a man........... but despite that IF i felt he was good at his job and was genuinely putting the country before personal success it would not have stopped me voting for him.

(the fact he was both a womanising turd AND a lazy self serving corrupt hypocrite however meant the womanising is just the clinker on the dog pooh sandwich ;) )

Yep wouldn't be surprised if there is a load of sleaze on the way..

The Daily Torygraph were never going to be an unbiased platform, but this from the BBC seems a bit more measured:

It's difficult to liken her to any domestic politician, either past or present. Barack Obama is the only name that springs to mind. Both of them broke glass ceilings and her independence was like his Obamacare - both pursued for the right reasons, progressive and for the people not the self. There were those that disagreed with and rejected independence, myself included, but it was still possible to admire a brilliant and successful politician who carried themselves with true professionalism and dignity in the face of awful prejudice and base hatred (this thread is a fine example).

A lot of her trials are a product of our time - we'll have a "Jeremy Kyle Show" moment in the future, when we look back and wonder how we ever came to accept politicians like Michelle Mone, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss - absolute charlatans completely out of their depth, causing immeasurable damage to our society. And instead our society loathed an actual competent professional like Sturgeon, often based purely on what she looked like and the accent she spoke with.

And many of the people who despise Sturgeon think the sun shines out of Boris arse.

How many successful, international, multimillion pound companies have you created from scratch and now run? I suspect I already know the answer.
Michelle Mone might not be everybody's cup of tea, but to suggest she is out of her depth, or not competent is rather silly at best.

We're discussing politics, not business acumen - still, nice to see you haven't managed to challenge the other 2. ;)

I think Sturgeon suffered the deputy's curse.

Most deputy's who go on to become number 1 are never as good as the person they worked under.

Its interesting that some base their views seemingly on her performance at a few press conferences but completely ignore the hatred and division she presided over and the poor outcomes for Scotland as a whole over the last decade.

There's even a couple of fanboys in this thread which is just bizarre.

i dont think poor outcomes over the last decade is unique to Scotland.

was she competent? honestly i am not clued in enough to know. but compared to her peers over the wall I think she came across as having more integrity and who actually went for what she believed in.

Whether i personally believed in her causes or not, i wish we had more of that over here, rather than policies which change with the wind depending on what lines the pockets of either them or their donors more or as a lever to get more power for themselves.

perhaps its a low bar to beat........
