Is there any truth in this being last year's panel? They didn't even have 2560x1440 last year... I'm guessing this was a panel for a 6 inch galaxy note prototype, before they decided to stick with 5.7 inches again

I'm so disappointed with this release. My current phone is an ancient Galaxy S2, and I was genuinely looking forward to buying the new Nexus phone for the pure Android experience.

The price of the Nexus 6 isn't a surprise given it's specifications and build quality. I don't have a complaint there. They are competing against the iPhone 6 Plus, and other devices in the 'phablet' territory.

Google have just left people with a choice of a phablet or a tablet. That's what I'm miffed about.

Why couldn't they have a released a 5" - 5.2" phone alongside the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9? If they had done that, they would have a slice of every part of the phone / phablet / tablet market.

Even if they just refreshed the Nexus 5 with newer hardware and a bigger battery, I'd buy one straight away.

The N5 is still on sale. That's the argument they will use about giving people a choice.

However, I can't see the N5 staying around much longer, and then as you say, the smallest Nexus device you can get will be biggest android phone available...

I agree. Just a buff on the current n5. How easy would that be?

Latest CPU
Better camera
Better battery
32gig and 64gb
Better speakers

Everyone is a winner

Yup, I am very disappointed about it too, I was really wanting a nexus device with an OLED screen but 6" is just too big imo, not to mention the price, I knew it would be more expensive but not that much! When you compare the price to other devices, it is fine, I just refuse to pay that much for phones now.

I think the majority would have been more than ok with 5.2-5.5" though.

I also wish they stuck too 1920x1080 for a few reasons:

- not really needed for a screen of that size (my n7 2013 looks perfectly fine sharpness wise and it is 7"!)
- they could have used a less powerful GPU (the n5 still flies through everything super smoothly and I am 100% sure that it will be just as fast and smooth as the N6 in a year)
- battery life would have been much better (going by the z3c reviews and user opinions, everyone seems to prefer having the epic battery life over the 1080 res.)

As a result, the phone would have been quite a bit cheaper.

Whilst we have the choice of the n5 for a smaller device, it isn't the same as we don't get the other benefits of the newer n6 i.e.

- front facing stereo speakers
- most likely a better camera
- better screen
- possibly battery life....
- for some, storage

The nexus 5 is still an amazing phone, no lag, screen is great and size is just right for your hands.

I haven't even looked at the n6 as my N5 is so good! Had it from launch day and its still faster than most.

The Nexus 5 is a superb phone and that's why I've still kept mine. I'm really hoping that Android Lollipop really improves the battery life.

The camera's decent IMO, the only issue is the battery which all I want is to make it through the day with enough power for when I get home.
