Denial...a winning argument.

Well, I think the basics are there though. He's saying there might have been something wrong with yours, which is what I was thinking as it is a long way from the lag that the Moto G 2014 had.

It does seem some people report lag, usually blame encryption, others just don't see it at all, even when encrypted (me).

Those who installed the franco kernel, does it help and improve battery life or does it just gives those N6 users more tinkering options?

From my experience the battery life is improved. Getting 1.5 days battery with 5 hours screen time.

He has changed the CPU governer and removed mpdecisions which has improved responsiveness and benchmarking performance.

Are you on stock kernel?

No it was encrypted; I thought 5.0.1 had solved many of the issues but back to back with the n5, the n6 was slower in some tasks and more jittery generally. Lollipop has caused all kinds of issues with older hardware and forced in encryption was a silly thing to do given the performance hit on the n6.

I don't have time to fiddle with phones anymore, I just use them out of the box hence not disabling encryption. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I was shocked at how smooth the moto g on kit kat is compared to n6 on lollipop.

At the moment the n6 is a slightly hamstrung giant phone but with solid hardware. I think this will improve as in the future foibles should be polished away and Google will integrate proper phablet features natively.

Not at all ... You either had a defunct n6 or your head is cut.

The n6 is in a completely different league to the moto g

I have seen zero lag on my n6. Coming from a n5 and having used both the moto g both v1 and 2 I feel the n6 is the best.

Yeah I'm on stock at the moment. on my old nexus 5 I was using the free updater kernel and it made it so much better. Do i have to buy the premium or get away using the free one again?

If i choose to remove it can it be done so?

Can use the free one but he is adding functionality to the premium one all the time.

It doesn't modify system any other system files so you can go back to stock if you wish.

speaker issuer

I got my n6 about a month back and have noticed that when playing media via the speakers it starts at the correct volume but then after a couple of seconds drops to a very low level and won't then go back up.

Anyone else had the same issues. Is there a fix or will it have to be sent for repair?

Thanks

That's an odd sound issue. Have your tried various other video players.

Dice and VLC for example

Sounds like software rather than hardware.

If it was me I would try some more players first and then do a factory reset before I conisdered sending it away for repair.

Also did you purchase from play store ?

I'm so on the fence about buying one. The reviews about lower quality AMOLED (last gen) screen which suffers from screen retention and the £550 price tag is putting me off.

I'm currently using a LG G3 and there isn't anything wrong with it but miss the dev community from owning a Nexus device... just wish the N6 wasn't so over priced.

I don't think it is over priced. Its just not as cheap as the last two LG models.

Screen is fantastic mate. It really is, but you have a good phone in the G3 so no real need to change other than personal choice

I'd say the phone is worth what it costs. Hardware such as screen might not quite be on par with it's competition such as the Note 4 but then it doesn't cost quite as much either. Quite fairly priced for what it is.

No sign of any screen retention here yet, and the only way I could have any complaints about the quality of the screen might be by putting it next to a note 4. I've not had to take of off minimum brightness yet either (adaptive turned off).

And I just had 45 hours off charge with 4 hours screen on time, don't really need any more battery life tbh.

The burn in thing is quite funny. I can only see it when the screen is on a certain shade of grey. As designed by this app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.amoledburninfix

And you'd probably have to bump up the brightness to even notice it with that ^

Day to day, I never notice it so no issue :p

Really like this phone but... My back cover has stated to lift off!!! Grrr not what I'd expect from a "premium" handset.

I bought it direct from Motorola site.

It's only slightly raised but i suspect it might get worse... I need to check if I can get it replaced with a new phone.

Quite annoying if I end up without a phone for a few weeks :/
