Facebook app is appalling lately, chewing through 25% battery a day and crashing loads. I use it too much to just use the mobile site though!

Price dropped to $499/$549 over here, so I pulled the trigger on a 32GB to replace my OPO... let's hope I get along with this whale of a phone!

5.1.1 OTA appeared. But upon trying to install phone restarts itself but I get an error message in front of the android mascot.

Turns out there are lots of people having issues with the 5.1.1 update: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Ev4yBSssdIM;context-place=forum/nexus

However because I'm off on hols for a week I'm going to leave it and see if anything changes when I get back. One response suggests it might be because and app has modified a system file:

This is indicative that an app you have installed has modified a system file. As a result the update will not install.

You can install the latest factory image or you can try to see if you can return it to the place of purchase for warranty repair.

I'm loathed to return if for a warranty repair but equally it's stock with only a handful for apps. I have a LMY47D (hardware bought from CPW) which interestingly doesn't have factory images for it.

I've never had an issue with OTA updates on my Nexus 6 or 7. So this is the first time I've experienced an issue of this sort (on Android or iOS). I'll look into it more when I get back but I am curious as to what's caused it not to accept the OTA update.

Just out of interest what's your build number?

A minor irritation is that the notification simply won't go away and is there letting me know I have an update.
