Reviews arent glowing but even the worst arent 'bad', it does seem the nexus 6 isnt as good as it could have been but then again this can be said of most phones. Does make it harder to justify a phablet if you werent to sure!

its the battery life that concerns me - the rest is acceptable but such bad scores in battery life is a real issue and a very unpleasant surprise.

not sure if it's a fair or relevant test, but apparently the encryption that comes with lollipop (which the Nexus 6 is the first phone to come with out of the box) might be affecting read/write speeds. This could explain some of the hit and miss performance that has been noted by reviewers. Could also drain battery life too.

I've no idea if this could be fixed with a software update though?

After they fix the encryption I think the N6 will be just a bit better than the Note 4. I'd go for it just for the camera.

I simply cannot face the Note 4 because it's going to be laggy what with all that Samsung sludge they pump into their devices.

Having held one, it feels like a flattened brick, with the lack of contouring and hefty weight.

yea I currently have a S4 and I was looking at the Note4, N5/6 or i6+.

I'll probably end up with the N6 due to the size and design.

Anyone found any reviews or more information on the feel of the plastic of the white and the blue? I've only read one review which said the white one is not 'soft touch', so is a bit slippery.

Currently comparing pictures of the blue and white to decide which one I want more!

I recall one which suggested that the blue is slightly grippier than the white, but it's still not 'grippy' as such. Blue reported to be a big finger print magnet, but I assume the white will end up showing dirt or staining rather more.

I think I'm gonna stick with the nexus 6 now, stock android, massive oled screen even if it might be worse than the note 4 screen is gonna be enough for me.

With regards to battery life, every phone I've owned has been crap as I watch a lot of media on it/web browse so used to having to charge all the time.

The only reason I was put off was the screen, but I can't go back to touchwiz/gimmicks and lack of updates.

At least with the nexus 6 I know that it will be supported for more than 12 months....Although I don't ever keep phones for 12 months but whatever :D

So did Android Authority, so 2 great reviews, including great performance, yet other reviews not so good??

It seems to me as though ever since the nexus 6 specs were officially announced people went in "hating" it.

The media sites were cynical, and negative and that stance followed through on some of the reviews. They went in at the start hating it so it was hard to turn round for them. "ooh the size" "ooh the price" blah blah blah

Had it been an apple device with the same performance it would be proclaimed as the coming of christ.

Either way I was pretty certain the nexus 6 wouldn't win critical acclaim, and I guess Google know that it won't ever be a mainstream device like the Galaxy devices or iphones.

I think with all of these reviews theres so much focus on lollipop that they aren't so objective.

The phone itself isn't getting particularly great write-ups but lollipop is impressing everybody... so if you can stock rom/GPE on another phone you might be better off....Note 4 etc.
