Prior to deliveries arriving soon for the early batch of UK buyers on GPS, Voda, etc, I saw some comments about the Nexus 6 on G+ that I thought might be helpful to relate. One guy who has had the phone for a week says:

1. "I've always had a to have the Nexus devices since the N1, and this was no exception regardless of it's size. This is however, the first Nexus (including tablets) that I haven't rooted and ROM'd on day one. Android has come a long way and I haven't felt the need to do so now that we have Lollipop goodness. Still feels weird not rooting a Nexus though. We'll see how long I'll last unrooted."

2. "...this phone is ginormous! I am however, getting use to it. My only gripe is that it's a little too wide. IMO the Note 4 feels better in the hand."

A sampe of comments to his comments include:

3. On day 3 with mine...still in love! This is my first Nexus device...why did I wait this long?

4. If you root the Nexus 6 you can use the hidden LED light behind the top speaker.

5. Bought mine at T-Mobile, its been 2weeks. So far no real problems and I love the nexus 6 size. The only issue I am having with it is that people wonder what is in my pocket and why its so big. This is a problem when wearing skinny jeans but other than that the resolution is amazing and the phone is running pretty smooth.

6. No burn-in for me at all.

7. totally agree with about the the power and volume rocker buttons. Took with a few days to get used to it and not accidentally press them.

8. +1 to +T-Mobile for joining the convo and actually listening to their customers. Would love to see that from more businesses.

Has Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit been updated for The Nexus 6?

Also, whats the deal regarding encryption? Has anyone been able to disable it yet?

You may remember I mentioned that I would have been surprised if the delay in getting stock, which had already affected Handtec and Clove, would have left Amazon off the hook. Reason: Amazon is a competitor to Google, not merely a distributor. In fact, probably Google's main competitor these days!

So why was/is the Nexus 9 on release day on Amazon???

I popped in store today at carphone warehouse out of curiosity and asked if they had any in stock, they said no and didn't know when they would, so if anyone is looking to go in store, today is not the day

@Dangerous
Yes, agree. This is the store within a store concept I mentioned that Google and CW are exploring together. Perhaps it is a precursor to Google setting up Shopping Express in the UK in future (just my guess).

Google has also launched Google Shopping Express, so far in the US only-- including SF and NY. Google acts as a same day distributor for those internet users that open a Google Shopping Express account. They have a fleet of cars that do same day delivery within a one hour window. In this way, Google is viewed by retailer as quite different to Amazon. Google is seen as a partner and not a competitor (like Amazon) to the brick and mortar retailer. Amazon builds warehouses (fulfilment centres) while Google employees work inside the retailers distribution centre. There are some big name US retailers that have teamed with Google Shopping Express.

So I see the relationship with someone like CW in the UK having greater strategic value to Google than the relationship with Amazon. Amazon and Google are direct competitors.

I was getting worried that the shipment was going to be the 15th for mine but looked at my text from CPW and I'm next Monday!

Hi David, thank you for ordering your Nexus 6. Unfortunately due to a stock delay from Motorola, there will be a delay in the delivery of your order. It will now be delivered by Monday 8th December. DPD will be in touch on Mon 8th Dec to confirm your hourly delivery time slot. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience.

Fair enough. If they were so keen to showcase...may they should concentrate on some ******* stock to do so :D
