Still not sure about what's happening with CPW orders as to what date we'll get them. I guess we can only hope they'll come sooner rather than the now later date!
 
I contacted CPW as I have ordered a white 64gb n6, they tell me its still due for the 1st December.

Not sure about all this carp about them not being available until the 15th, although I suspect none will be available until GPS has started shipping

If google still have existing stock sitting around then they are probably just too lazy to unpack them, flash lollipop, then repackage.

You'll just get the OTA upon first boot.

i just hope and OTA comes out before it arrives for me on 5th December. sounds like things need addressing. Encryption on / off button for starters.
 
I can't see the encryption causing lag - just speed up load times for big apps.

Even the Anandtech article says the intermittent lag remains without the encryption.

When the Nexus 6 review was published, I commented that there were performance issues that weren't present on the Nexus 5 running Android Lollipop. Many users commented that the FDE may have been to blame. Like I mentioned earlier, Motorola provided us with a build of Android with FDE disabled.

Unfortunately, I haven't noticed any improvements to many of the areas where there are significant frame rate issues such as Messenger and Calendar. I speculated in the Nexus 6 review that the performance issues may simply be the result of insufficient GPU performance or memory bandwidth to drive the QHD display.

It maybe just software teething issues and maybe that the 805 drivers need improving.
 
good reason to buy from Play Store as you can return without issue if not fixed. I doubt CPW will accept as a refund reason.

I am still keen to get mine, and i believe Voda will be delivering on December 5th with the moto 360.

We know the hardware is good and proven, so software tweaks should be all that is needed.

TBH i have not had a Nexus out the box that has not had bugs on day 1

While I am not worried about the encryption lag issue being sorted, seems as if Google software engineers have been a bit busy lately with Google Inbox. The reason I post this link is because with an 85% global market share (and now with the China Google Play Store looking like a reality too), devs are being actively encouraged to write for Android first with new open source tools, in particular, J2ObjC.

The Google Inbox app shares roughly two-thirds of its code across Android, iOS, and the Web. According to Ars Technica:

"A lot of the shared code defines things like conversations, reminders, and contacts. It also deals with the difficult task of network management and offline synchronization, where the app is used offline, reminders are made, and e-mails are sent. It's up to the app to store all that and fire it off to the Internet when the time comes. Sharing the code for this stuff is a big time saver, since it only has to be written and debugged once. It also makes the app more consistent across platforms: reminders will work the way you expect them to, because the same code powers it across devices."

And performance was a priority here that Google has appeared to crack. Sound familiar?
