Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

Battery life, I must admit, I am disappointed with. Take it off charge around 6:30am and by 6pm I am getting battery anxiety and this is using 2-3 hours of SoT in some cases.

My 4 year old P30 Pro right now would fare better, I think that speaks volumes.

While battery life is not great, for me I'm always around chargers. A 30 min top up and I'm fine. Rest of the phone is worth it.

Adding on, Samsung's 5nm performs closer to TSMC's 7nm. Mixed in with the more power hungry X1 cores and less efficient GPU it trails behind the competition.

Samsung's 3nm moves to GAA though and is looking very competitive against TSMC's 3nm so G3 should be promising.
Looking forward it...

Compared to 5nm process, the first-generation 3nm process can reduce power consumption by up to 45%, improve performance by 23% and reduce area by 16% compared to 5nm, while the second-generation 3nm process is to reduce power consumption by up to 50%, improve performance by 30% and reduce area by 35%.

wow i use it as a phone .. some tube vids and music .. up at 5am quick charge .. by 6pm still on 45% charge before bed sleep repeat .. what do you do with your phones ?

Yeah, I think it's things are changing for many people. For me, the phone is pretty much second best at anything I would want to do on it, so if the better option is available, I'm taking it. Gaming -> PC. Watch a movie -> big TV. Tbh, even calling family -> Google Meet on PC or laptop. YouTube -> PC or tablet. Browse the web -> PC or laptop.

Try at own risk :p

Instant reboot on mine.
Tried on a 6 Pro... rebooted. Not just limited to the 7 series it seems.

I wonder if it's a bug with Tensor's decoder. If VP9 it could affect Samsung phones as well as Tensor uses Exynos's VP9 decoder. If AV1 then it'll point to Google as they designed the AV1 decoder.

EDIT: Reading more this only happens on Android 13 and seems to be an error with HDR. Should be patched with an update if Google acknowledges and finds the cause.

Now that people have had their 7 Pros for a while what's the general consensus? My 6 pro is still going strong, and I'm tempted to wait until october to see what's in line (not sure if I want a foldable...) but also tempted to upgrade if it's deemed stable and working well.

My P7 Pro has been great. The only annoyance is this Google Assistant issue. It seems that others are experiencing the same - https://support.google.com/assistan...ur-assistant-needs-additional-downloads?hl=en

Apart from that I have been impressed by the handset.

You're better off waiting for the 8, the 7 series feels more like a refinement over the 6. There are things like the better modem but if you don't have any issues with your phone then wait until October. Current rumours for the 8 sounds like a lot of changes including a possible redesign, new camera sensors, and Tensor G3 potentially being a much bigger leap compared to G2 vs 1.

Anyone having screen issues with their 7 pro? mine has developed a weird flicker on the left hand side and faint vertical lines under bright or dark images on screen, it's hard to tell if it's software or hardware related. never been dropped either.

Nothing like that on mine, that sounds like a fault
